Damn, I've always been thinking that would happen, and I guess there's nothing you can do even if you're "ready" for it.. anyway glad you didn't get too banged up!!

I don't think I could jump up a 6" stair with both legs.

Yeah, nothing I could have done. Saw it coming a second or two ahead of time, but pretty much all could do was hope it missed me! Guess I got lucky. Lucky-unlucky.

Been putting a lot of long miles recently, nothing hard, just enjoying the scenery! But may take the next couple days off because of some knee pain in my patellar tendon. Pretty sure it's from my saddle being slightly to low, so hopefully I can rest it a little and after adjusting the saddle I should be good to go.

Have something on my back in the area where I wear my back pack for commuting. It's infected, went to the doctor yesterday, they're testing for MRSA. On antibiotics now. It looks like a bullet wound so that's pretty sweet. Might take a couple days off commuting, but it's getting so nice again towards the end of this week and it will be dark in 2 weeks!

Urgh been working 8am - midnight with a riding break since like Monday of last week. Sometimes freelancing can be annoying.

Probably 1.5hrs easy today since I don't have time for much else and feel a bit tired anyway.

Oof, the transition to training in the cold is rough. I forget about it every year. Makes it so much harder to get out.

While it is harder to get out I always find it easier to hit my tempo intervals. Either because I eat too much or because the cold just motivtes me to stay warm. Or maybe both.

20' test. Juuuuuust a shade under 4w/kg, which means a 3.8w/kg FTP. I think 4 is doable by Snelling as long as I don't get too fat from Xmas cookies.

another vo2sday = 6'-5'-4'-3'-2'-1' w/ rest equal to the upcoming repeat. did it on a flatter stretch of road (~3%) because fudgy says its good for me. power was commensurately lower given what i imagine the same effort would garner on the steeps. kind of an interesting workout, deceiving how tricky the later repeats get even though theyre short. just over 2 hours with warmup/warmdown.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Tempo feels pretty good when it's cold. The shorter, harder work... eeeeehhhh not so much. But I've got some VO2 lined up for this block, only way out is through.

Did weights and 1 hour of easy spinning yesterday....today, mild sore throat again. I don't think its coming back but I also think I can't ride for the next few days....this illness is going to take me out a solid 2 weeks. Being the fred I am, that's going to take months to recover from.

first week double sessions t/w/th with almost 1hr core/plyo/strength in the AM and 1hr bike in the PM. Going to bed just after 8 makes me feel like an athlete.
