Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Maybe. I didn't notice it on my then-normal riding on the long, mostly-straight Queen P up north, but then on COTA it was scary on the descent from Turn 1 when trying to lean into the curve and the tire would distinctly resist, then suddenly pop over the shoulder. At speed, on a tri bike. Not a happy camper.

In other news, my ride hit 95*. Rumors of summer's death have been greatly exaggerated. Velo Vol, if you miss it, you're welcome to come visit at a suitable social distance.

Had another fantastic morning ride with amazing weather. That’s three for three. I didn’t even notice my “worn out” tire in back.

After lunch mrs datlas and I are doing a hike/walk. I will Strava it if I remember to.

BTDT, especially when I have the summer balaclava on.

Yes. That said, if we did a rolling 7 day leaderboard I think I would have close to 300.

Supposed to dip down to 110 here today after yesterday's ridiculous high. It's very smokey and the sun is orange due to gender reveal fires, encampment fires, and other idiot fires. We haven't had lightning fires like they have up north. Most of our fires are stupid-induced.

Garmin has that on the front screen of the app; 287.4 for me.

The boy goes "back to school" tomorrow, so there's a little more implied family time pressure. Not a great day, weather wise, either.

Going forward, my morning ride time on off days is going to start feeling the pinch with later sunrises, too. I'm almost tempted to start up Sufferfest a couple months early just to keep in the daily riding habit.

Maybe. I eat a varied diet, but for some reason always eat the same breakfast: Greek yogurt and a banana. Keeps me going until noon.

It's chilly at night. A couple days ago I fired up the heating pad.

I always have cold cereal for breakfast. Usually have a banana and a granola bar mid morning, on the bike or not. Big-ish lunch and large salad for dinner most days. Yogurt after dinner. Still like chocolate chip cookies and really have no restrictions. Eat whatever I want and still lost 10 pounds after retiring. Thought I was going to gain but there is so much less stress eating.
If I had any discipline or control I could be in great shape and be a faster rider but I don't. 200 is pretty light for me, I wrestled in high school at 235-250. My fattest beer days were around 260.
