Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How many times did you change gears to get to that speed?

Well, its a 2x10 drivetrain so lets see... hmm... once.

I invoked Isaac Newton's apple theory.

Yeah, trainers are heavy. Made for an interesting trip from the storage closet to the bedroom when I had a sprained ankle and wanted to get back on the trainer.

I'll save you the trip and potential injury from carrying it.

Well, you don't want it shimmying across the floor while pumping your massive guads.

This was actually an issue when I was at a w/kg competition at a local LBS bike shop. One of the guys there was a pro who weighed about 120 lbs soaking wet and he was throwing down 700+ watts and it was moving all over the place. Granted there was no mat underneath it which would have likely helped a ton.

Sunday, Mrs. Doug28450 and I went to the annual town festival. I find this event amusing and disgusting at the same time and typically enjoy watching the people.

We decided to get food while we were there. I got a Cuban sandwich. It was not a Cuban.

Seriously, when I ride a trike, average speed is the furthest thing from my mind. It's what got me through two bouts of cancer treatments and surgery recoveries and trauma recovery.

It's also impossible to ride a trike without grinning and laughing.

I can't answer anymore questions. I'm heading out the door with my wife for a tandem ride. will be on my mind, not average speed.
