Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Heard from a good friend. He was driving back from FL on Sunday/Monday and got stuck for 13.5 hrs. in the I-95 mess.

There’s no Covid in TN I hear.

One of the directors at the last company I worked for that is based in Nashville was supposed to travel there today for a leadership meeting that was essentially a show up or be fired type of thing. Luckily, her flights were cancelled.

yeah, I watch it, but these are guys I ride with all the time. We all know who's who and where we should be. I'll keep going for a bit but if it keeps happening I'll just stop doing it. It's way to frustrating. I ve complained to the leader before but I'm told, I'm doing it wrong. But no one can tell me what I'm doing wrong so I dunno.. .

The ride leader was 2.5 wpk I had to go to 6wpk to catch him at one poin and was over 4 to stay with him. I didn't last long. The it was off the back, right through the group..zoom! I couldn't even stay with the other guys so I don't know what's up.

I operated vegas to dc the night before. Landed right when the snow was about to start. Rented a car and drove home, got in around 1:30 am. Thank God I dodged that bullet.

I’m at a loss. I mean, if you fall off the back you have to work hard but my experience is once you catch up you’re good as long as you’re in the right w/kg range.

Frankly, being 3x microchipped and of quasi-good health, I'm not much more worried about it than I would be in a bad flu season.

I signed up for an easy paced Zwift ride for this afternoon.

I might still get dropped. Sad.

Same. Finally. Though I've got another week until my third microchip is mature. I'm finding myself able to pick up small steel screws, washers and nuts without actually touching them.

That's weird. I mean, I've done hour-long races where we all stay together and stay within a fairly narrow power band. I've noticed sometimes I have a significantly lower W/kg than the person I'm drafting - like they're doing over 2 W/kg while I'm cruising at 1.7 or 1.8.

Might it have to do with the terrain? And are all your parameters in your profile correct? One thing I noticed when I accidentally reset my height to 3 feet was that I had no problem at 2 W/kg keeping up with other riders putting out more like 4 W/kg, so the aero effect of height should not be overlooked.

Philly just implemented the NYC rule on Tuesday. If you want to dine inside you have to show proof of full vaccination.

There's a big difference when you look at hospitalization rate and death rate - TN's death rate/100,000 is nearly 3X CA's.

There's less serious disease where more people are vaccinated. But I think the idea that masks are going to keep COVID--especially this variant--away indefinitely is just wrong.

Worst spots in US right now:
