Well, THAT was a whole lot of no fun!
One reason I went to work today, despite feeling slightly less than perfect, was an important meeting. My boss (VP of Cell Biology and Immunology), the guy I've worked for for the last 14 years took another job, and HIS boss, the Chief Scientific Officer is retaking the reins of Research. He's s good guy, but my old boss and I were really simpatico. This was the first meeting on a particular project for a couple months, and I wanted to make sure we impressed him favorably.
Because he, like most of our company, is in Maryland, the meeting was by Zoom. So I was in my office. Before the meeting, my office started feeling a trifle cool, so I put on the big flannel shirt I keep there for just such an occasion. During the meeting - which went pretty well for my group, I thought - I started feeling colder despite the extra shirt. Then I started shivering. I did manage to keep a quaver out of my voice, but I did worry that I was visibly shivering.
Now? I feel hot, and achy, and like I got punched hard in both upper arms. I feel all 85 of my 64 years.

I showed the last one to Mrs John. She did not like it. One day our cat had a large gopher at the front door and she went out and picked up the cat so the gopher could escape. It was too late as the gopher had expired.
My neighbor at that house wanted my cat to help rid her garden of gophers. I felt that he was doing his part based on what I saw.

Drive home was okay. I wasn't going to wait an hour for Mrs. GeneJockey to get to the office, rather than drive 20 minutes home myself.

Tomorrow is our last full day in VA, and we'll be spending a good chunk of the day packing for the return trip. With this in mind, I thought that it might be a good idea to throw in a load of laundry. My wife is also getting a jump on things, so I asked her if she was already doing laundry. "No, I'm not."
Cool. I head to the laundry room... and the washer is mid-cycle. I go back to my wife, "I thought that your brother said that they were done with their laundry for the week and that the machines were open?"
"Oh, they are, but I'm using it."
"... but you just said that you weren't doing laundry."
"I'm not doing laundry - I'm washing the shower curtain."
Ugh, great googly moogly.

woah woah woah, pump the brakes.
For all we know the appointment was scheduled, because the patient has recently started having trouble judging time. That is a thing. I think. I mean 90 percent of the people at the airport demonstrate this very condition everyday.
