L-Series Saturns were just GMs. They built them at the GM plant in Wilmington, DE.

Oh, it's bad if you're the one who gets all of the intermittent, impossible to duplicate problems. Think of all the weirdest crap you've ever heard of happening to cars, the stuff that just baffles people. That was my job, a professional guesser. Oh, don't forget factory warranty diagnosis time is .3, yes 18 minutes. So a car can bounce from one dealer to the next and when I get it I have to figure it out in 18 minutes, or request extra diagnosis time which must be approved and justified.
Of course, if you're personal friends with the manager you can avoid that type of work for the most part and stick to customer pay services and make 10 hours on a car that takes 2 or 3 hours at a casual pace while earning $5 to $8 more per flag hour than the old guy who was there 18 years when you showed up. But I'm not bitter.

Yesterday I thought I'd de-noise the commuting bike, so I put new spd cleats on my shoes and cooked off the rear pads. All that worked perfectly, but today there's a BB tick.

Everyone have a good weekend?
Cat made the usual 4:50 wakeup call. Fed him and was back in bed by. 5. Felt strangely wide awake for 10 min. Worried that I would not be able to get back to sleeping. Next thing I know I rolled over and looked at the clock. It was 7:30. I felt like I had been drugged.

I realized this weekend that they aren't quite as awful on days that I don't have an alarm set and will even let me sleep all the way until 6:30 sometimes. Then it dawned on me: the alarm app I use on my phone has this "gentle wake" feature that will play extremely soft relaxing noises at an almost imperceptible level before the alarm goes off and gradually get louder -- the idea is that it doesn't startle you awake. I've been using it for years and honestly can't really tell a difference. I theorized that the cats can hear it because they're cats and that's their signal to go full ******* mode.
So this morning I turned the alarm off (because I always wake up at 6 with or without an alarm) and sure enough, the cats weren't quite as bad. I guess I'll try turning that feature off for a while. Either they'll adapt and find new ways to be jerks or maybe they will stop jumping on my face at night.
(I have reasons for not shutting the door and keeping the animals out of the bedroom at night.)

Following a strict no-carbs plan lately I lost almost 2 pounds, not that that is my primary objective since my normal weight is just 200 at 6'4. More importantly I'm trying to move my glucose and A1C numbers further away from the diabetes border where they have been residing for years . . . I don't like how dings and scratches and insect bites on my shins take so long to heal lately.
So far so good, but I miss my sweets.

A friend of mine just reshared a post of mine from 2014, wherein we see a newspaper describing what a phone booth is. Hilarious.

Breakfast: Clif bar, and a gigantic raisin bran muffin. Pint of café au lait.

Oh, another one that's happened to me - FD limit/FD cage being struck by the inside of the DS crank arm. For whatever reason, my Rotor has vanishingly little space between the arm and the position where there's just enough room for the chain (when on the smallest cog).
