Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Here is a video I found showing the trail near where I used to live. I first went up there 30ish years ago. Now there are shuttle services that take you up to 8300 feet. I always climb it and go up to 9000 where the shuttle can't go. Gets too crowded sometimes now that people don't have to climb it.

How do you know, when going up, that there is no one bombing down?

Lucky you! They would rather stand for 8 stops than sit next to me on the subway. Now my younger brother…

That can be a problem some places but you can see and hear pretty well there. Trail etiquette says the climber has the right of way, but some people don't care. Some trail areas ask you to use a bell.

Yeah, it was hot here too. 90F. I made my normal commute wearing my standard kit; denim carpenter pants, t-shirt, work boots, helmet. Messenger bag on my back.

Flight was ok. We all wore KN95 masks. The fellow passengers wore masks but an annoyingly high percentage did not cover their noses. WTF is up with that. Is it some type of protest??

I've called record stores. The last time I did was when Tower Records was going out of business in Portland and I called to ask how much stuff they had left and if they were open regular hours.

I think it’s passive-aggressive resistance. “I’m wearing a mask and that isn’t enough for you?”
