I do. I use rema fluid and rema patches, allow a good 5-10 minutes for "cement" fluid to dry. I have discovered that if I use the tool (I forget its name) to push patch on and leave cellophane tape on, my success rate is about 80-85%. However if I don't use the tool and peel back the cellophane we are looking at 50%.

Ah. I haven't used (or ever seen!) a tool like that, but I do use a beer/wine bottle or similar as a rolling pin after applying the patch. I've always taken the film off, too - sometimes one edge of a patch will threaten to come up with it, but I'll just peel from another angle and it's fine.

I really need to organize my bike stuff, so I know which tubes are still good. The other day I was putting new tires on those RX100/Trek Sonic wheels I got for the Cannondale and spent entirely too much time carefully getting the tube and tire onto the rim only to find 5 minutes later that the tire was flat as flat can be.

Something I learned from coaching youth softball...Don't coach a .400 hitter into a .200 hitter
Something I learned from working on bikes...If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

Indeed. There were shops out there that had the reputation... If your car isn't broken, they can fix that.

I have two home made chainwhips. In fact, since I made them in the 80s, they probably have 7speed chain on them. I probably should update them but they seem to work fine.

I have a pair that my dad made. Pretty sure 6-speed was the standard at the time. They still work just fine.

Day started off great - had a casual ride of about 20 miles along the river. Then, as we were heading back to the shop to drop off the bikes, and my wife crashed while almost stopped. I didn't see it, and some guy chased me down to tell me. Fell onto her left elbow, and may have some sort of fracture. 😪
But, I found out how to properly use bottle cages so the day was not a total loss.
