We got our cat from the shelter. I was walking through the cat room full of probably a hundred cats. As I walked by, one of them stuck her paw out through the cage bars at me. We took her home and she's been the best pet I've ever had.

My cat Harry (aka Butthead) was literally dumped in my hands at a farmer's market; couple of young women walked by the booth I was helping at with a tiny six-week-old kitten, I asked for pets, and they dumped him on me with the sob story that he'd been dumped on them and they were flying home the next day and would I take him? I had been told explicitly, NO MORE CATS (we were up to I think four at the time). I told myself that we'd just foster him while we found him a home; that delusion lasted until Bev and Alan saw him. I still miss him.

Reminds me of a time in 2010 when I was riding home from work. It was late, I think 10pm, so fully dark and the battery in my light was just about dead. So, I didn't see the very large dead deer on the side of the road until I was right on top of it. At this time, I was riding around a brakeless fixed gear (something I gladly no longer do) so stopping quickly wasn't going to happen. I was thankfully not going terribly fast given my lack of lighting, but still fast enough to be problematic in this situation. I got the front wheel off the ground to roll up onto the carcass but the back wheel hung up so down I went. I and the bike were unhurt, still annoying. Also annoying was recalling at that time that I had seen the very same dead deer on the way into work 9 hours earlier. Guess it was a low priority for the city to take care of.

On a pre-dawn commute this morning. American made so it must be good. It's well used. I think I will post an ad on Craigslist in the lost and found section.

Just keep the hammer, they're not worth any money even though they are rated as either the best or one of the best, that particular framing hammer new sold for around $25 depending on how old it is, today new that one is about $35 but the new one has a blue handle. Just take some steel wool and take the rust off, give it wipe down every few months afterwards with WD40 on a rag to try to keep the rust at bay.

Well...

Alot of tools and some other stuff I'd rather not reveal. Found a 50 dollar bill once, but it was a New Zealand bill which is worth 29,50 USD.

I found a nail once that went though the tire and was almost long enough to hit the rim. Beyond that it is usually cheap tools and straps of stuff worth picking up though loads of trash and occasionally ladies underwear. Recently in the middle of the road I saw an entire bag of leftovers or carryout from one of those chain restaurants it was multiple boxes of food and eventually got run over. I would love to find some cash or something more of value. Wallets I try to get back to the people but loose cash is nice to find.

Found an iPhone on the side of the road once, called the number that had been calling it and it was the owner looking for his phone.😅

Not on my commute, but on single track, I found a woman's wallet with a large amount of cash in it. I had just passed a couple of female hikers about a mile back and had not seen anyone else. So I turned around and chased them down. When I caught up to them, the owner was looking in her pack, which she forgot to zip and sort of freaking out due to her wallet missing. I rode up and said, "Are you (whatever her name was on her license)?" and she goes, "yes!" I handed her the wallet and she was so happy. Oddly enough, I saw her and her friend hiking a few days later and wouldn't you know it, her pack was unzipped again. I stopped and said, "Hey, do you remember me?" and she said yes. I pointed out her unzipped pack and we all had a good laugh. Luckily this time the wallet was still there. Hopefully she learned her lesson after the second time.

Not much more than a half-mile from home, I found an unopened package of two super-glues.

Unopened package of Super Glue

I thought it would be a good idea to keep little metal tubes of superglue like that in my tool kit but they hardened up

Try plumber's tape on the threads. I use it on all my resealables like caulk, patchkit glue, shoegoo, super glue, etc.. The trick is using new tape on clean threads everytime you use any of them.

Eh, not to be argumentative, but Teflon plumber's tape is too big for most of the tubes you list (except perhaps Shoe Goo). Do you carry a small pair of scissors to cut the tape down to width along with your patch kit?

The tire is a backup spare now tube went in the trash. The rim fared pretty well actually, the hole it made is much smaller than a spoke nipple hole so I stuck a piece of gaffers tape over it and called it good. Still rolling fine on my commuter.

I was miffed for sure when it happened, as I was starting a tour with that bike the next week. Well I thought about it, put a layer of electrical tape over the holes in the rim, and I had a fantastic tour on it. It was fine on the tour, and I don't worry about it now.😁

The holes you got were larger than mine but still smaller than the standard spoke nipple hole that rim tape is designed to cover up. I could have gone with electrical tape but since gaffers tape is stronger and more closely resembles the cloth rim tape I used (and I have a roll hanging around), I went with that.
If and when your rim finally fails, I'd be willing to bet money that screw hole won't be the cause.
