Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's not a bike yet, but I still gotta post it...

first step is finding the RD hanger for it. no, I didn't pay $500.

Thanks. I've been on their bikes since the frames were imported from Russia. Now, they're all built locally.

Their tandems get most of the attention.

Madone 4.5 2011. Changed out the crank to a 105 and the brakes to ultegra. Got some Soul 3.0SL wheels. It's not that unique or fancy, but it gets the job done.

Here's mine, just built up. Lapierre Xelius frame, hand built wheels, ritchey wcs cockpit and mix of SRAM Force / Rival.

Didn't weigh the complete bike, but the frame was 880g, fork 340g uncut, wheels were just under 1400g... probably in the 17 lb +/- neighborhood.

thanks, I bought the new frameset seperately then pieced together the components off ebay. I love the ride but this is my first full carbon bike. Ive test rode a bunch of other carbon but Im used to aluminium frames so they all felt like a dream. Ive maxed out at 45.3 mph downhill and it tracked perfectly smooth, no wobble.

I am a sucker for carbon weave:

The only hint of colour anywhere:

I realize it could be blacker, but it's less than a month old. Maybe a black seat and bar tape next season...
