Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

50 fully loaded miles tomorrow. And I think I’m going to have a headwind. My longest ride this year has been 30 with only limited weight. Ugh.

I have an alarm clock on the nightstand that is permanently set to ring at 6:30, but the clock is set ahead something like 20 minutes. The problem is the thing is so difficult to change that I just say "F it." If I need to get up at a different time, I use the phone.

Owning an alarm clock is as bad as having a newspaper subscription.

My alarm didn’t go off this morning. I was suppose to ride to Newport News to join the Squirel Scalpers. That requires waking up at 330 and being on the road by 415. My fitbit decided sleep was more important.

I own an alarm clock (clock radio) and buy the NYT most days. For some unkown reason, my clock is 17 minutes fast even though it is digital. If I reset it it ends up being 17 minutes fast a couple of days later.

What Is “Planned Obsolescence,” and How Does It Affect My Devices? (howtogeek.com)

Just because I buy for myself frequently (it is, after all a business expense and deductible) doesn't mean that Apple does not design its products with planned obsolescence in mind.

I personally switched from Apple because of a history of having difficulties connecting it to my business systems. The iPhone was not positioned to work with the productivity tools that I wanted to be able to use for my work. Android works better for that.
I think the biggest problem with obsolescence and iPhones had to do with batteries and memory. The more sophisticated the OS becomes, the more bells and whistles they add, the more juice it uses and the more memory. My 6S, which I got probably in 2018, no longer lasts all day without a recharge.

Maybe the problem isn't the phone. Can't change an alarm clock? SMH.

Endless options. Wind levels in East Tennessee or why it rains on Tuesdays in East Tennessee.
Bikes and accessories are valid options.

Just turned the new ac on for the first time. Wife prolly won’t approve, but I am the one stuck in the house and 79 degrees is a little ridiculous.

First warm ride of the year. I don’t think I am acclimated to the heat yet, there were a few times I felt on the verge of puking. Still, a fine ride.

That is just too hot. 72 is a good baseline.

I like 77, bump it down to 74 if I have to do any work in the house, maybe 72 if it's hard work

79 is only OK if your sitting under the ceiling fan with a cold drink.
