Pretty much flat out and back.
On the coast, if it hits 70 degrees I'd be surprised.
I'm doing the 3 climbs no fries ride (80 miles, heads inland where it's a lot warmer). One large bottle is all I'm taking. There's plenty of water along the route.
I'd bet that 2 bottles is overkill, but go ahead. If you're really concerned, power down 16 oz of whatever before you start. Do that and I'd be more concerned about there not being any porta-potties than getting dehydrated.

Once on the road, I alternate drinks of OJ and my Skratch fluids. If I run out, I'll mix up more Skratch powder with water along the way. For the Eroica Ride, I'll carry extra Magnesium capsules and Calcium tablets plus Skratch pouches for myself and any others who might need it. Its pretty light so not a big deal other than where to carry it. Others have their own choices of electrolyte and rehydration fluids (or what they may eat at any of the food stations). YMMV. Just be sure to stay well hydrated once on the road and have sufficient fluids to keep going when no sources are available till the next stop.
Some of the below reviews are 4-6 years old. You might see or find reviews like on Amazon which are more recent. I buy my Skratch from a couple of local bike shops to support them rather than buy online.

Yea, the short route isn’t that demanding but it tends to get windy by the early afternoon. Wind-dry mouth. I use a fairly large water bottle with Nuun. There is only one stop and other than fruit that was it in 2019. The route takes you through San Simeon and you could always fill up at the hotels or something.

I just checked the weather.com monthly forecast for Cambria and Paso Robles areas, the weekly forecasts will be checked closer to the ride dates.
For April 30-May 1, here's the monthly forecast averages:
Cambria High / Low 67 / 50
Paso Robles High / Low 76 / 43
However, as we know, temps can be quite variable, especially inland depending on local weather conditions. But certainly starting out in the morning it will be relatively cold to cool, warming through the late morning to warm in the afternoon. If we're lucky, not too much wind, and not too much heat. Early morning conditions along PCH can be quite cool with some wind, and many times a lot of fog - Leaving Cambria in 2019 on the Santa Lucia route, I ran into a fog bank around mile 5 which lasted for about 2-3 miles. Being around 6AM, it was still dark with only my headlight and taillight visible. Nice to have a wide shoulder but unnerving to not hear anything till a car came driving by, so stay to the right and make sure you've got a superior set of taillights or two, one on the helmet isn't a bad idea either.
As for Covid issues, California has had declining Omicron variant 1 cases for awhile, but Omicron variant BA.2 is rising quickly across the country and in California. So far I've seen or read that this variant is even more transmissible than Omicron BA.1 but is still relatively low in causing significant illness thankfully. Still, my recommendations is to be sure your vaccinations and boosters are up to date and reasonably recent, continue to practice safe distancing in crowded or indoor areas, and consider wearing a good surgical or N95 mask when in heavily crowded spaces or if you have significant risk factors (age, obesity, conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory or cardiac disease, immunosuppression, etc.). IMO, being outdoors should be pretty safe generally but since there will be huge influxes of people from all over California and other states, one should remain careful. Fist or elbow bumps would still be OK. California has lifted most masking mandates but individual businesses may still request or require them so bring a few to be sure.
My family plans to order in or takeout food to protect my handicapped and relatively fragile health daughter who will be coming with us to Cambria. I'm not sure if there is much Uber Eats, Doordash or other food delivery services within Cambria or Cayucos, maybe in Paso or SLO. Whatever or however you get food and supplies, please consider tipping where appropriate. There are two big grocery stores in town, and a couple of gas stations. As you may know, gas in California has hit record highs and SLO/Cambria areas are no different, ranging from $5.30-6.50 for regular. If you're trying to be frugal and you are a member, I recommend stopping at the SLO Costco or Monterey (Sand City) / San Jose-Gilroy area Costcos for gas to save some bucks on the way in and out. The Salinas Costco does not have a gas station. Some Sam's Clubs also have similar fuel savings but there aren't any within 100 miles of Cambria. Gasbuddy.com is a useful app or site to check for best gas prices if you are driving in.

Excited to ride this year
So far it looks like we will ride this year. I have the bike I hand built in 2020 mostly ready to go. I have my hotel, car, and flight booked. My brother was supposed to ride with me last year unfortunately he can't make it.
Since I built the bike I couldn't figure out why my bike skipped in the smallest cog. I thought that maybe the rear derailleur mount was slightly off since I built the frame without a jig. It turns out the brand new 11-28 cassette I bought came with a 12t lock ring and the chain couldn't fully mesh with the 11t cog.
Does anyone know if there will be a vendor selling vintage style water bottles? I'll bring my modern camelbacks but wanted a more vintage look.

Unfortunately, I got bumped form my hotel reservation at the Squibb House B&B. The hotel called to say that the hotel is entirely booked for a family event and I never should have been able to make my reservation on hotels.com at I had done. Oh, well. Now I'm booked a few miles down the road at the Cambria Shores Inn. I'm still planning to drive down Friday evening and return Sunday evening.
I hope to log some good training miles while I have the week off from work for Spring Break next week.
@davester - I hope you're enjoying your Mexican sailing adventure! Retirement sounds grand. Let me know if you and/or any other Touroica riders need anything schlepped down to Cambria from the Bay Area.
Looking forward to making new acquaintances and seeing many of you again.
I hope to log some good training miles while I have the week off from work for Spring Break next week.

Glad it didn't blow up your whole deal, apparently new tech/bs is too smart for its own good. I think I would spend a few minutes reviewing the policy for this sort of thing for which I'm sure they have solid backstopping for.
Almost sounds like BS on the original booking after they found out the big party needed more room or didn't want other folks in their way so you got bumped.

Almost sounds like BS on the original booking after they found out the big party needed more room or didn't want other folks in their way so you got bumped.
Anything hinky should result in being compensated.

Obviously a rock and a hard spot, Hotels.com likely the actual bad guy here and that is likely a losing battle that should not be so IMO.

Let me know of you’re interested - maybe you could step in unless they have a wait list or something. By now most of you should have gotten an email from Eroica California, part of which fugue has quoted. Here’s the important parts:

The event manager from Italy, Amadeo, is arriving in a few days and will be here for a month through the event. I’ve been in touch with two people intimately involved with the event in Cambria and California who confirmed the Expo / Festival will be held on the Veteran’s Memorial / Pinedorado grounds on Main near Cambria Drive so the event and participants will be very visible and in the thick of things.
I suspect we’ll be getting more announcements about the Saturday Dinner for those who are signed up, food support and stops, additional info on the rides themselves, and requests for volunteers as able.
it’s a bit disconcerting to see the vendor announcements so late (I haven’t much idea about vendors signing up prior, probably some) so I hope the turnout will be reasonable supported. Private vendors may make up a larger group.
My sense is to keep expectations lower and see how this waning epidemic first re-iteration comes off. I’m going to give the organizers and Cambria ground troops huge slack as they and we try to pull this off. Far away planning and difficulty getting everything done while the health situation has been in flux makes it a very fluid situation. What will be important is to get the main things done right about the festival, concours, Display, registration and material, course marking, food/fluid/mechanical support and sufficient quantities and qualities, and help us to have a safe and challenging set of rides. It’s up to us to be adaptable and positive about being in Cambria to enjoy the locale, the people, and being out and about again in some beautiful California country and oceanside.
2022 EXPO & START/FINISH
We are pleased to announce our Expo and roll-out Start/Finish at the Veterans’ Memorial Building on the Pinedorado Grounds in Cambria. The Veterans’ Hall hosts the Friday Farmer’s Market and supports the local Lion’s Club, a beneficiary of Nova Eroica and Eroica California. Adjoining the Expo on Friday only is the local Cambria community Farmer’s Market where the locals shop for organic fruit, produce and more.
