Five what, separate unpardonable sentences banning him from the sport for life?

Little in this tour could make me happier than seeing Froome stripped of all his titles... at the podium ceremony in Paris. Well, seeing all of his equally dodgy teammates since the inception of Team SKY called on the carpet at the same time would be immensely rewarding. Including 'The Honorable Sir Bradley Wiggins'. Why delay the inevitable?

Nothing like the assembled commentary team on Eurosport discussing an impromptu bathroom discussion between their international colleagues all expressing their disgust at SKY bringing six GC contenders to the tour yet again ala USPS/Discovery.

This hatred is based on them doing well?

For some reason, I (want to) believe Froome is clean.

To me - the word "clean" means no PEDs that require a TUE. Froome had a TUE.
So by my definition - he was not clean. I saw nothing saying he cheated.
TUES are more common than not in TDF winners.

Using OTC supplements available to everyone clean.

My definition/s of course. But "cheating" and legal PED use are different. As are TUE use and "clean".

I TOOK THIS TO A MORE RELEVANT THREAD ^^^^^^^^^^^

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way—in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
It was the moment of Bardet crossing the line, it was the moment of Froome being crossed with lines.

Team Sky cleans all hotel rooms themselves before sleeping there. Wish I could do that!

Also says Tim Wellens dropped out because he didn’t want a TUE bc he was sick. Interesting read.

Back to the actual race - how about the win by Boassen-Hagen on stage 19?? The two took the fastest way around a round-about and held the gap, then he dropped his companion. I couldn’t believe something as little as that, that close to the finish, could make the difference.

He totally could have just been lazy and outsprinted his breakmates but he won with style! Super impressive, well-deserved win.

Beautiful sprint by Groenewegen! Nice to see an underdog who's been knocking on the door of a Tour win pull it off, and on the Champs no less. Damn.

He pushed Kristoff off his leadout man, ****ing awesome. And brutal. That takes some balls.

Kristof thought he was getting another body to block his train. If Griepel was at Kristof's position, from seen his last sprint, he coulda woulda won

Not to jump too far ahead, but Tour of Utah starts in two weeks and I'm super excited. First pro bike race I'll be able to see in person. I should get to see three stages. One of them runs right in front of my apartment and has neutral less than a mile from home. The Saturday stage I've signed up for the Grand Fondo with one of my teammates from Seattle that is coming down to see family. This rides up to snow bird ahead of the race, which should mean full roads. It was expensive but *shrug*. Then Sunday I'll ride to SLC to chase the circuit around and then get to the finish line and watch the final sprint and head home. Would love to get a bidon or something from one of the teams. I'll also know at least one or two of the people on Hangar15 that are racing and hopefully one of the guys on Axeon from Seattle will get to race.

Another one of my teammates is doing a summer in Zurich for a research group he is a part of. He rode down and sent pics from the Tour de Suisse a few weeks back. Really cool atmosphere and he came back with a ton of team bottles and stuff.

Awesome! It's a shame they didn't show times so there would be some context.

Tour of Utah 2017 start list | Cyclingnews.com'

Start list revealed. Anyone have suggestions for Sidewalk chalk to put down? Think I'm going to try and go out to ride the route for stage 5 tomorrow since it runs in front of my place.

Fish is a good guy. He coached at least a couple of the collegiate guys I raced against that went to WWU. Also, I got a decent pic of him winning the state chaps crit this year .

Two things on recent women's pro cycling races:

1) La Course was at least two days this time, but that 2nd stage/format was kinda wtf. The 1st stage was a real mountain stage and was exciting, attacks, breaks, etc.

On the 2nd stage they rode the men's TdF TT course, starting in the order (and with the time gaps) that they finished the first stage with. The winner started with a 45" gap and just held it the whole time. The 2nd place rider waited for a team mate behind her, only extending the gap.. tactics that would make sense with a longer course, but didn't work out.

The format might have been ok for a longer course, but they only did like 22km so the chasers never really had a chance. Wish they coulda done two laps or something, but whatever. At least they had something. I like the Champs stage better last year, too bad they couldn't tack that on again.

2) The Ride Surrey(?) London Classic race was super boring, at least up until the final sprint (Rivera won). It was like a cat 5 race. I don't think it's anything endemic with women's pro cycling, they can certainly attack and create breaks, so I wish they'd done that! Even if the teams agreed to put out sacrificial riders for a break that's certain to get caught, that would make the race so much better.

Anyway, I'm glad they're getting some deserved air-time!

That course did seem pretty weird. That said, I was happy to see Annemiek Van Vlueten win. She probably would have won the Olympics RR if not for that crash.
