Had a nice ride yesterday after all the heavy rain had broke for a bit. It was some kind of comfortable, temperature was 79°F at the highest and no wind at any point. Did several hill attacks and worked on the cadence/pace, I held a 15.1 mph average over the route. Not usre about today, the rains started here around 0100 and haven't let up at all, I'll look for any break on the radar while watching the TdF.

27 miles with three friends this morning. Cooler than average, but slowly warming up back up to normality as the jet stream moves back north over time. Nice foggy ride for a while - cool, but damp and drippy. Slight bump on average speeds over the past few rides.

Nice ride at the wilderness MUP this morning. 35 miles with high humidity and strong winds. I decided to make use of the winds and do some wind training while on the loop and some spinning on the service roads. I was surprised that there wasn't the usual weekend mob there today.

Yesterday was another grocery grabber ride. 12 miles with 7 heading into the wind, lots of turns and 5 shooting almost straight home.

Today was a mixed up day. Woke up at 0119, put lights on the GG bike and hit the road at 0141:38, so says Garmin 910XT. Got in 22+ miles then back home for shower and bite to eat. Headed back out to meet guys at the Pioneer Trail head. 11 miles to there, 41 miles with the guys and then another 28 after so 102.41 miles total. Made it back home shortly before some showers showed up.

My nephew and two of his college friends are biking the east coast, from Maine to the Keys. They got here locally a few days ago and at dinner, they suggested I come with them for a bit when they start off again. I figured I'd ride 20~22 miles with them and then return to his paternal grandparents' house where we started. Well, a couple of small bobbles and missed turns, I ended up riding 30+ miles to just about the VA/North Carolina border. I left them and had to find my starting point(where I had made a cue sheet to get back).

In total, I did 55 miles(yes, an age ride). I only thought I was going to do 40~45 since I've been off the bike, prior to a couple of days ago, 11 days and only have a 26 mile and 35 mile ride afterwards.

Thursday, wife and I did the "backdoor to Marshall, NC" from the house. 40mile round trip. Waited for weather.com to say we had a three hour window. Got rained on most of the time (a little or a lot) Serious hills on the ride. Our first attempt at this ride...we've been riding for two months. Found out the brakes don't work so well in the rain! We skipped the last downhill into Marshall which is winding, steep and long. Quit the adventure!
Today, wife and I did 36 miles along a river. mostly flattish and a small section of good hills.
GREAT FUN, BOTH RIDES!!

Did the Giro de Bella 100K out of Sebastopol (CA) today. The local Rotary did a very nice job with this ride. The weather was perfect and the countryside beautiful: vineyards and horse farms mostly. I haven't done many 100K or Centuries on my single bike, but I was pleased to average 16 mph over rolling terrain (2700 feet of climbing). With a decent amount of riding over the next 3 months I should be able to do a sub-6 hour century a comparable feet/mile of climbing.

17 for an average. That's impressive to me. I had some wind and did 22 for a bit today and my average still wasn't 17. Well done. And +420ft

Woke up at 5am. Couldn't get back to sleep. Left house at 6am for a 30 mile ride. Was one of the quietest rides I have taken. Just birds and frogs and some crickets making noise and a 6 point younger buck standing just off the MUP munching on a tree. branch. He still had the fuzz on his rack.

32 mile club breakfast ride to Acton IN. Southern IN is hilly; our route in Central IN today not so much. Looks like the corn was at least knee high by the fourth of July.

44 out of a planned 66 mile ride with my riding buddy. Bike started making all sorts of noise with each pedal rotation that stopped when I coasted. Didn't want to take any chances so I cut the ride short and took the bike to the shop afterward. Thinking something wrong with the BB but won't be sure until they break it down in the morning. I guess tomorrow's ride will be a slow ride on the hybrid.

My favorite type of riding only I usually get out a little earlier.

Nothing spectacular today. Installed clipless pedals on grocery grabber and did a 10 miler checking out the pedals and new sandal shoes with SPD cleats. Worked great.

The 10 miles came after 1300 yards swimming and that was after 7.6 miles of pavement pounding. This was my first real day of Ironman training since thyroid surgery 2 weeks ago. Lots more ahead.

Rode the Axel Merckx Penticton Granfondo, Medio 90km, with my wife. It was her first time riding that distance and she did awesome! I rode home, another 65 kms - that was my ride. I did awesome too - thank you very much. The weather was perfect for the ride - partially overcast, temperatures between 70 and 80F, no humidity, almost no wind. There were 2,682 cyclists at the ride - pretty cool to see.

Yesterday I waited out the rain showers we have been having for several days now, it was worth the extra patience for the ride I got. The temperature was mild again, humidity is moving back up now. Ride was very good, I avoided the really wet roads and the standing water mostly, concentrating on hill attacks and spinning up smoothly. A great ride on a nice day.

The Colnago is still in the shop so 17.5 miles on the hybrid at the MUP today. I'm so spoiled by my road bike.

Two days of riding on a weekend away in Greater Manchester.

Day one was from Smithy Bridge to Summit and then part of the Pennine Bridleway at Higher Calderbrook approx about 10 miles 24C and very sunny and hot.

Unfortunately the Walks Book we were following doesnt give mileages but from Smithy Bridge to Littleborough is a mile and a half, the same from Littleborough to Summit.

With a few detours to find our way then discovering we could have gone a quicker more direct way.

My fella wanted to visit an old coal pit so we went to a farm and asked permission from the owner who was happy to allow him to visit it to take some photos and also a few specimens as well ( tho he didnt ask about that but hey who will know)

The Bridleway was steep in parts and very stony but was easy enough to ride and as I didnt take my helmet with me (very bad cyclist I know) I took it steady negotiating it.

On Sunday we went that way again but in a more direct way and completed the whole route and I splashed through a nice stream on the way.

Unfortunately after that my chain jammed between the front chainring and the frame and I couldnt free it so had to walk the rest of the route.

We thought we saw the church we passed on the way so headed that way instead of the route the book showed and ended up taking a far shorter route back, saving slogging all the way up Todmorden Road in the heat

My bike had to go the LBS but is now repaired and I will pick it up tomorrow.

Definitely time for a new front chainring but not from that LBS! It would break the bank.

And then to finish off a Nachos so big we had to share it and a stonking Beef Roast Dinner for me.

Never seen so much beef served up
