I've come to MY conclusion that the way Centurion measured frame (basically center of bb to top of top tube) translates to (measuring center to center) my 54cm being 53cm and making 56cm to 55cm and so on....could be I'm wrong though.

I've been sticking to my schedule of riding Tue, Thurs, and Sundays, weather permitting as I won't ride in rain or cold . I was trying to ride the '86 Classic on Tue, '87 Miami Vice on Thurs, '88 Carbon Ironman on Sundays and '89 road bar specific STB Ironman once a month. But I got off track due to weather and continued the rotation. So today I'll be on my '88 Carbon Ironman.
So Sunday, I was riding my '87 Miami Vice and feeling pretty good (even though I was straight into the headwind) halfway to the turnaround, When I came across about 20 cyclist in a pack heading the opposite way. Then about 5 more stragglers in their wake. I was surprised to see them on my regular route and even more surprised to see them so tightly bunched. They seemed to be in their 20s and 30s as they didn't have the prerequisite Paunch of 50+. A few miles later another group of cyclist (all women) riding together but...apart. then almost to the turnaround several more riders. First time I've ever seen that. In all probably 35+ cyclist out that day.
Stay safe out there Ironkids.

That '86 Looks like a 56cm. Mostly original except the brake levers.

jim dandy has blue tape , I have black tape and now you have white tape.
I have a black saddle to go with the black tape and I'm not sure what JD has, but what color saddle are you going to use?

Prestige with prestige tubing and Dura Ace components. That is a deal for sure. Looks like a 54cm and the last bike you may ever need RobbieTunes
The tubing is above the Ironmans in hierarchy and the same tubing the centurion sponsored Pro Triathletes used. I wonder if the geometry is the same as the Ironman. I think most of the Ironmans riding attraction is the geometry. Probably the answer is in the Centurion catalog...but what year? '86?

When I tipped/rotated the bar forward/downward, the hood position was much lower than I was accustomed to. But the drops position felt more natural.
I think the tricky bit is to consider these short-reach across the tops/hoods, but with lower than expected position. So it might be necessary to raise the stem a bit to compensate.
Anyway, I tried 'em for awhile, couldn't get the hang of them, and those Cinelli bars are back in a box waiting for another project. I'm thinking of trying them on a gravel bike conversion from an old Univega mountain bike.

The downtube graphic does look 85ish but I do wonder what the headbadge looks like. If it looks like the '85 Ironman I could take the prestige graphic off the top tube and order a Ironman to replace it...and just like that I got me my missing'85 Ironman.

yup its a 1985. Although the Seatube and Headtube have been painted it should be Silver not that Charcoal grey

My suggestion. These years did not fit up well with the straight line along the stem and bar tops. That said, if it works, it works, period, and keep what works.

You are 1 of 3 on here that has that color scheme. The consensus here is that although we call it a '89 it was slated for 1990. However we need a '89 catalog to be sure of what we're Certain.
jim dandy has blue tape , I have black tape and now you have white tape.
I have a black saddle to go with the black tape and I'm not sure what JD has, but what color saddle are you going to use?

Move the levers down a bit; I know it messes up the smooth top transition, but theses are not from that era... then get a shorter stem. Like an 80-90mm. This will bring the reach back into line, fit-wise.

yeah idk if you saw the later pic I posted I moved the levers down a bit but I didn’t like how they felt when level with the bottom of the bars . I’m still gonn play with the bar angle as well gonna go for a ride tonight. Did you ever get those pics of that frame you had ?
Try searching this thread for “NotYourDaddy’s” Ironman. That’s the one. Frame/Fork (Look Carbon) and headset (FSA threadless) are in my storage unit.
