Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Given those things, R460 is my first choice since the published ERD are within 1mm of the Archetypes, and they're black with silver machined sidewall. I built some CX wheels with them years ago and was really impressed. Of course, the 24 hole is in stock but not the 20
Of course.

Had my first experience with being behind a guy with threadbare shorts today. Two holes as an added bonus. Hope I never have to contend with that again. ☹️

You're a lot closer to that mess than I am.

I had a nice ride today and I saw my friend who had cracked her top tube a few weeks ago. She found some frame guy locally who did the repair and painted it to look like it had never been damaged. I was also reminded of how much faster she climbs than I do.

I spent a lot of last Spring pulling weeds in what we like to call The Back Forty, which is really just the part of the yard that used to be overgrown with Ivy, volunteer plum trees, and other unruly plants. Fall of 2020, we had it all pulled out down to the dirt, and covered with wood chipper mulch. In Spring, we got a huge crop of weeds. A lot of Oxalis, some Ivy, an astonishing number of Oak seedlings, grass clumps, and Apple of Sodom. I spent many an hour on hands and knees, pulling weeds. By Summer, I thought I had won.

Then it rained.

So, guess what I'm having to do for at least a part of every Saturday for the foreseeable future?

That’s what happens to me when I get hypothermic. One reason I stopped doing “frostbite” sailing races in the winter was that motoring back from the finish and putting the boat away, I’d start stumbling and slurring and getting so generally stupid that I thought my life was at risk. Weird thing was I felt cold, but not overwhelmingly so. All in all, I’d much rather ride a bike this time of year.
