Post your Centurion Ironman.. For the love of 80s paint jobs!
I searched and incredibly, there isn't a gratuitous "post you" Ironman thread... so there is now!
Post your Centurion Iroman pics in this thread.. have no shame, post as many as you like. Please mention the year and complete model name (ie Expert/Master/Carbon)
I'd really love to see at least one example of each of the different Ironman paint jobs.. it seems there were at least two or three for each model year.
Off the top of my head i know of these IM paint jobs.. did i leave any out, or get the years or models wrong?
1985
Silver / navy blue
Red / Silver
1986
Red/white
Grey/white
1987
Yellow/white (master)
Pink/yellow ("Miami Vice") (expert)
Peach/white (expert)
1988
Yellow/white fade
Red/white fade
Seafoam green/white fade (expert)
Purple smoke fade ("Purple Haze") (master)
1989
Grey marble fade (master)
Black (expert)

to kick things off, here's my 1989 Ironman Master, equipped with mostly 600EX components. I need to get some newer pics cause it's got a black and neon green saddle now too

Here is an 87 Expert model, that I did some work on and gave to a friend.
I found this at a garage sale this spring. It hasn't been touched since I brought it home(other than hanging it up). It's an 85 model, built in late 84. Of all of the Ironman paint schemes, I like this one the most.
And the fork

I'm sure everyone's getting tired of seeing this one, but I can't help showing off.
RogerM, really dig the fork on that gray Centurion.

An 87' model, Master in yelloow/white. All 600 but the hubs, RD, and it was updated to 7spd. Looking to trade for a 53Master any color, look for me in the pass around game.

I thought that the Expert/Master model could be in any stock color combo, so green is an Expert only color ???

thanks robbie.. i didn't realize there was a blue marble in 1988 It looks like the Blue Marble in 88 has the newer font used on the rest of the paint jobs in 1989
The Ironman model name was dropped in 1990, and WSI decided to merge the Centurion and Diamondback brands. For the first few years, Diamondback brand road bikes featured prominent "Centurion Designed" decals. The "spiritual successor" of the Ironman Master and Expert are the Diamondback Master TG and Expert TG. The geometry is clearly more relaxed, but the "Master" and "Expert" names still lived on, as did the marble fade paint jobs. The Master featured 105 instead of 600.

^ that's interesting your 89 has an "Avenir" logo on the top tube.. i think WSI must have done a deal with them to get the saddles cheaper in late 1989 or something.. my 89 doesn't have it

I actually had a pair of Avenir shoes from the late 80s. Trashed 'em years ago.

Avenir branded equipment is plentiful on Diamondback mtbs as late as 96. threadless stems, handlebars, saddles, cable housing. I assumed Avenir was a WSI brand too. Not sure of later history after WSI/Diamondback's bankruptcy.
I did find a box of Avenir index shift housing recently.
BTW, great bikes in this thread!

My new Master racked for a sprint tri. The red and white master was my first Ironman in a midlife incarnation. Below is it just prior to my being hit by a car and the frame being lost. I still cry about it sometimes.
