A nice story that showed up in my Apple News app:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Cedar Crest’s 60-year-old Tony Byatt, an Albuquerquere Academy and UNM grad, knows what it’s like to be a state champion cyclist on the road and on high-banked oval tracks.

He has won a combination of 17 age-group titles in Florida, where he lived for 20-plus years, five in South Carolina and three in New Mexico.

Among his achievements in Albuquerque was winning the New Mexico Criterium in 2012.

But that’s not all.

He’s also been a national champion four times and in November raced on the track in the 55-59 age classification against the top riders of the Western Hemisphere while competing in the Pan Am Games in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Interesting.

Perkins touches on the main attraction to CF:

When asked what he likes so much about CrossFit, Shane said: “The biggest difference for me is the community. Everyone pushes you, sometimes people jump in and train with you. It makes it that much more fun.
But the main problem with CF as a training program is this:

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that aims to develop a broad base of fitness. High intensity, varied workouts with a focus on functional movements is the goal, rather than highly specific exercises like cyclists are accustomed to.
I'm curious as to why he'd go and try something new leading up to the Olympics when he has to try doubly-hard to earn a spot on the national team. He obviously has more training experience than most in the sport having been a part of one of the leading teams for years and under some great trainers and coaches. It just seems really odd.

Could it be a funding thing? Like he didn't have a budget for a coach, didn't want to write his own program, so he decides to do W.O,Ds?

W.O.D = "Workout of the Day" Basically, someone makes up a random workout and posts it on the message board at the gym. You come in, read the board, do the workout...everyone in the gym has to do it. Generally speaking, there is no do your own workout. If you are in the Box (gym), you are doing the W.O.D.

CF does get people fit. But, I personally think it's not good for training for other sports. If your sport is CF, do it. If your sport is something else, then train for it specifically.

Which one? The TV rights weren't reserved for any western European countries, so you should be fine with belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France etc. If you're using hola, I've heard of problems with it working, not sure why.

From the very limited info from his Instagram feed, it looks like he does sport specific weight lifting, but those are literally just a few pictures, so who knows.

With his training history and depth of knowledge of the sport, I'd assume he's not out there doing headstand pushups to failure.

Hola sucks. Instead, use Tunnelbear.
Install the Tunnelbear plugin for Chrome.
Turn it on and set it to the UK.
go to youtube.com/ucichannel
find the video you want to watch.
click on it. start it loading
then turn off Tunnelbear (since there is a data limit with it, and you only need it to start streaming)

Well, then he's not doing CF. He's simply working out at a gym where CF people work out as well

Those are the new cheaper LOOK frames, I think they retail around 2500US.

Ill have to see one in person, but they are a far cry from the L96 in about every way lol

I'm not sure if you're referring to the paint on this particular bike, or the LOOK paint job in general which is largely similar if not the same on their other track frames, but:

Oh I know his drawing, because I did some art work with his design.
(I cannot upload original file because of the file size)
I don't know why the paint job looks terrible.
I'm guessing it's because of black lines in middle(not referring lines between different colors)

Ever wonder why sponsored riders sell their free bikes soon after their contract is up?

When you are barreling through turns 3-4 and your seatpost drops an inch, you'll hate a free bike

I still have and ride/race one of my free bikes... 33yrs later and the same is true for a couple of my teammates. Those Schwinn Paramounts seemingly last forever.

But.... but free bikes are awesome lol

As you know I never experienced with sponsored bikes.
So I don't know how they perform.

My neighbor, retired track cyclist, told me that the sponsored bike(Cannondale Aluminum) broke several times and carbon frames had problems with headset and BB.
If the current sponsored bike don't suffer this problems, I will be happy with the free bike haha

Everyone will know about aerodynamic of trck cycling, but if you are interested in data, start reading the research from page 228.

Like Stages it is only left leg power only.
No mention if compatible with track cranks - only road and MTB cranks in the compatibility list.
