Since we are being honest, @Velo Vol has a habit of being obtuse. Oh, and I'm a fatty.

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo is quite warm and muggy this time of day. I just got back from a nice morning walk. I will be dropping my wife off at the airport in an hour or so, and then continuing the four hour trip home. She had Covid credit with Southwest, and they don't fly out of Merida. Our 30th wedding anniversary is Tuesday, so we used this as an opportunity to celebrate. Puerto Morelos is actually closer to the airport than downtown Cancun, and a significantly more pleasant place to pass the last night before flying out.

I recently bought an excellent, but very old book that gives the most beautiful/interesting routes in Illinois. It really is very good but being ancient, they use cue sheets and the maps are out of date as far as name changes and other changes. So, I've been digitizing routes and it can be a challenge. I've thought that maybe I'll just go old school and print out the cue sheets.

I was in a REAL BAD MOOD earlier this afternoon. Without getting too far into the details, my niece was being stupid on Facebook, in my field of expertise, and it turns out a LOT of her friends are also morons and proud to show off their ignorance.
I had to ride to detox. I took the Circuit, and even though I only rode 23 miles, it was so good for the soul that I'd almost forgotten being buzzed by some shrimpdick in a van. THAT is a successful ride!

In my final days of weed smoking, I did it only while riding. Ultimately I had to stop that practice because I was hitting the little reflectors on the white line.

I have found my next excuse for being dropped. My wife and I had a home-health visit from our health insurance provider’s nurse practitioner and she ran a QuantaFlo test and claims I have moderate PAD of the left leg and significant disease of the right leg. The, she ratted me out to my family doc who graced me with a phone call. I convinced him that I had zero symptoms that I was aware of so he’s going to wait until I see him at my next visit in June to talk about it more and decide what more should be done.
In the mean time, I have my next lack of performance excuse when I get dropped.

So my friends have planned a 68 mile ride tomorrow with about 6000 feet of climbing. I think that's too short and not enough climbing so I want to start from my house instead of the starting point which round-trip will add about 20 miles and 2000 feet of clmbing.
I talked to a few friends to see if they are willing to join me. All of them said no. WTF?

Peripheral Artery Disease. My father had it severely and died young (68) from a lot of complications. I have no symptoms that I’m aware of but I guess it bears further checking into. I may have to adopt datlas’ diet.
