Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was thinking about this the other day. For the last few years I haven't been nearly as frisky and wanting to do rides. I have to work myself into the mood to do longer ones. I attributed it to fatigue, anaemia, whatever.

But this now is happening with car trips too. If I start thinking about how long a drive will take, that makes me feel tired, too.

It's a problem.
It's not easy being Vol.

Even my wife likes to do track time. It’s fun, especially in other people’s cars.

Yes, it’s legit and might well help. However, I would love to see you with a solid anatomical diagnosis too.

Thanks for the reply.
is this something that will allow me to return, unencumbered, to my formerly awesome* state?

*this might be disputed

I want answers as well. I promise I can handle the truth.

He's not. That's the name of the stadium.

I currently get the SEC Network but am not going to sit around watching more than a few minutes of mind-numbing baseball.

It's time to cut one of my many lawns. I predict there will be no police activity in and around the DougRNS property.

My wife bought a gift of a Keith Code motorcycle road racing class a Laguna Seca. There was every caliber from national champs to novices like me. We were all on Kawasaki 600's. After several slow laps of learning different techniques, we were let loose. In motocross, which I was good at, you can use any line to pass someone, but here in road racing there was that ONE good line. I was passed by some guys at probably 30 mph faster maybe a few inches away. I cruised into the pits and called it a day.

You would be the Quinn Houff of Hondaville, based on your driving descriptions. Ol' Quinn drives the 00 car, and the drivers ask their spotters "How many 00 cars are there racing today?" because he gets lapped so often.

Hindsight is telling me that today's ride was a bit too ambitious. Only had two bottles of water and didn't bring enough food so I blew up and limped home the last hour.

Also was my first time going out on an unknown route with just my Wahoo. Had some frustrations with the unit not rejoining the route when I had to deviate due to road closures, and then RWGPS gave me a wrong cue telling me to turn left when I should have gone right.

Still fun though. Learned a lot.

The Honda might be more fun at Oak Ridge Motorsports Park if/when they build it.
