I see folk's eyes wander after 1 min. When you cut 80% of the content you are telling the story from your view. But the cycling guys (including masters) ask me sometimes not to edit and the family / friends of those ask me not to. I end up doing 2-3 cuts. One long, one < 3 min and one just of my kid or just the finish.

True about the editing. However there is a middle ground. If I'm asked to review a 45 minute video by checking at time a,b,c,d and looking for certain things, that's no different than editing, just lazy.

I didn't miss the point at all. I'll post the whole race and give time stamps for where I'd be interested in feedback. And I don't think it's lazy. Some people may want to see the whole thing and may spot things that I wasn't expecting feedback on. So if I had edited it out, I wouldn't have gotten the feedback.

Team mate's vid from the Cat's Hill p/1/2 yesterday:
edit: forgive the music, he just picks something free. Now I realize why so many bike race videos have the worst music ever..

Cut down lap by lap Dana Point GP Cat 2. Daniel had the wheel problem again in the sprint and was coming into final turn 3rd on his teammate Mathew's wheel. I'll post about it in the tech thread later.

Edit: I unfortunately did not meet @misterwaterfall who was there. He made a comment about smoothness that was a jab at my thread on that topic. DPGP Cat 2 was pretty smooth and held a steady pace. I can not remember a break sticking on that race (I have seen 7/8 DPGP Cat 2s races).
I contrast that to a elite junior races there is a big difference in how the pack flows. Of course the courses are very different, this race crit was smooth :-)
Daniel was stopped 100 yards before the end. But here is a comparison.

That's definitely a small ring hill! I'd approach in a slightly high gear for the 50, shift to 34 and it was perfect to start the hill for a few pedal strokes, then shift down a few more.

Last year I did half the race all in the small ring, but got dropped; however I can't blame the gearing on me getting dropped, that was lack of fitness.
Anyway I did all big-ring this year (53x25/27), and finished. It's so short that by the time you start bogging down you're over the top anyway.

Thanks for posting @Doge. I wasn't being sarcastic about your son, he was pretty fluid the whole time and did a pretty awesome job always being at the front.

Pits are not always at the start finish. No need to be other than convenience for the officials. At Somerville for example they are at turns two and four. In Boston they are literally in turn one.
Thanks for for your insight on the gearing.

saturday: did alright, got some points. probably should've looked for a lead out before going for the sprint.
sunday: hard race, burned all my matches in the wind, but it would've made little difference had I had shelter. my legs were gone

Thoughts?
The usual story seem to be loosing positions towards the end, with added twist here of getting caught up behind the crash.

Prob too little time to recover from having to chase back on with one to go, but once you caught on you never got into a position to win. You slotted in around 10th with 2 turns remaining, gave up position in turn 3, and were coming out of turn 4 too far back. Gotta be more assertive and be second or third wheel out of that last corner. That'll require a bit of effort to get into that position and hold it to the end.

I watched a couple minutes. The most striking thing, aside from space in that race, is that you're a total masher. coming out of the corners at like 80rpm/500+ watts. Shift down and your legs will thank you, I think.
