Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hot. It's a steal at $480 even if it isn't Columbus.

I don't actually use the cataloguing of LR, and having to pretend to use it is half my complaint about that program. Of course, I wish DPP was a little more batch-focused. I'll try C1 in January.

Wahoo won't send me a new trainer until they have proof the old one has been shipped. Do they not care what this is going to do to my fitness and rat wheel anxiety?

Go for a few runs while you're trainerless.

Good idea, but I'm hoping the gap will be short enough that it's not worth bringing on all that stiffness. Also, already have a pretty good calcaneal tendinosis going from jumping rope. Weather looks good, so I'll survive by commuting, doing weights, and maybe get out for a few real miles next week.

I kind of swore off running in 2008, when I had my c-spine rebuilt, or I probably wouldn't have even started riding for sport again and would never even have known about this web site.

I just discovered the Utility Cycling forum. And that's all I've got to say about that.

Rumor mill sez that next quarter those of us on the WFH plan will be given the choice of a severance package or relo package. Given that the options are Dallas, Charlotte, and Chicago, that would be the end of an era.

Does that mean severance?

Oh that'd definitely be the choice. AG, being the talented one in the marriage, has a much better job and in a field that would be harder to continue in another city.

I mean, she makes nearly as much on her own as we did combined when we met.

My fear is being able to adjust to a normal job in an office again. It seems likely I could have a breakdown. Serious-like.

Just did an hour on Zwift. It should have been easy but the group was spirited so I spent most of the time at tempo effort with occasional soft-pedaling when I got on the wrong side of the red barrier. My Internet signal only dropped me once, and I was able to get back with the group.

I reckon that fake miles are better than none.

The awesome shovel is safely stored in an undisclosed location in the north west metro Atlanta area.

Just droppped the trainer off at the FedEx office. I’m already feverishly looking for weather windows. I volunteered to be consult attending next week, so I’ll try to get a ride in on Xmas day and spend lots of time in the gym at work.

Is an office the only option?

I haven’t. Dan seems to have his priorities straight and has placed family and arguing on the internet first.
