Thanks for sharing this showroom beauty!

Question regarding bottom bracket -

There appear to be two lockrings on the adjustable cup. Is this because a spindle intended for a 70mm shell was used on a 68mm shell? other?

Thank you for any information.

You know, I'm not completely sure. My guess is the same as yours. It came with 2 lock rings and I did notice that the bottom bracket stuck out further than normal without the 2nd lockring, so I put it back the way it was.

This bike belongs to a friend, and I also looked pretty closely at it a few years ago when it was for sale at a local bike shop. The paint has quite a few small chips, as is common for fully chromed frames. Other than that, the components were in nice shape, and the exposed chromed lugs and dropouts were still very nice -- no obvious pitting or rust. Looks like he just dropped the price to $300. Good thing I just blew my bike budget on a Flying Scot frame set.

I found this great looking Carbon Centurion Iron Man with aluminum lugs. I didn't know that Centurion made carbon bikes. I'm not sure it's worth the $800 they're asking though.

Pretty 80's Colnago on UK Ebay. I don't know anything about Colnagos so definitely don't take this as a vote of confidence in its veracity.

One day the timing will be right and I'll land one of these as beautiful at this to join the rest of it's 87 stablemates.

Good luck with the search. I'm a big fan of higher end vintage Schwinns. I've flipped many bikes but it's only "special" ones like this that I fully strip and restore.

I've got the 87 Tempo to go with these just waiting to be built up. So yeah, I need a Supersport!

BASSO GAP 55cm Frameset + extras - $280 (Weymouth)

condition: good
make / manufacturer: Basso
model name / number: GAP
size / dimensions: 55cm
Vintage Basso Gap 53cm frameset. Made in Italy. Columbus SL Tubing. Rare " Americana Paint scheme

This is a 90's set. ( serial on BB Shell ).
mv Frame straight and true. Paint is bright and has some gloss, but shows a fair amount of rub, nicks and scratches.
Dropouts in great shape.

I was going to completely strip the frame, but I havent found the time.
Sooo...
included, correct, parts are;

* SR cold forged stem

* Well worn Shimano 105 cranks with biopace chain rings and old beat up clipless pedals.

* Great Campagnolo headset, 1" with " Patent top nut.

* Cinelli 64-42 alu. Giro bars, w/ some tape residue.

* Shimano 105 8-9 spd downtube shifters.

I was going to match paint with Testors hobby enamelhgor touch ups and reglossing or do a full repaint

Replica decals ate available on eBay and there are so many great rrpaint instructional Videos on Ebay if you choose that route.

Dont think I'll find the time to give this frame what she deserves.
I'm a big fan of Basso bikes, from their quality to geometry.

Price is FIRM, and very fair.
Thanks for looking!

Nice. I've had a mint 87 Schwinn Tempo before. Unfortunately, it was way too small for me. My first real road bike was a 1989 Tempo, after a GMC Denali .

Olympic Peninsula CL for $75/negotiable: Very poor pic of NDS, small framed but looks like it has a honeycomb dropout. Far as I know, these were only made by Gitane and only for a few years. They only put these on upper end frames. Sombody in the area should check it out. Don

Rod Brake That Doesn't Break The Bank

Phillips rod-brake bike - $75 (Waxhaw)

"All original 26" Phillips single speed rod brake bike. I guess this is a prewar bike. I have done nothing to it. This is an original, vintage, classic and old bike. Located in Waxhaw.

Is it me or do both of those prices seem noticeably below market value? Both framesets look wonderful and it's darn sure hard to beat their quality, if at all (as we know).

It is not just you. Really good deals. I would jump on the Paramount if it was my size, especially after seeing yours all built up. The Waterford needs a better looking fork.

The Waterford could stand to have a better fork I suppose, but I'd have to see it up close. At least it's a Reynolds.

As for low Paramount pricing, an LBS/.org bike shop over here (Bike Works) that I regularly volunteer at has an '87 jade green metallic 53.5cm Paramount frameset in stellar condition for just $150. Insane.
