65 miles. A lot of E-BSO Group Riders out. Very unusual for the area.

I seriously do not like having to have a vest on this close to June in Florida. WTF. It was heavily overcast, some strong winds out of the NW and almost cold. The humidity was up, so the cooler wind really made it feel cold. When I rolled out of my garage, it was 58, again WTF. It did not get any higher than 65 while I was out, and I never saw the sun. I absolutely hated it, this close to June, I am mentally and physically prepared for heat and humidity by 9 am. I got in 85, but it was not a fun 85. The sun finally made an appearance about 4 pm and the temp shot up from 70 to 82 based on the weather station in my back yard.

My first 50 miles since last October, and I feel it. Took time out on my ride to reflect on those who gave it all.

My ride took me out to the Bonnet Carre Spillway where I watched two snaked feeding on fish.

Got in 67 today. My wife is staying at my son's house watching his dogs while he and his girlfriend are on vacation. So I rode over to a restaurant right around the corner from their house for breakfast with her. Was still very cool this morning, but the sun was out, so it warmed up quickly. Caught favorable winds on the way back. A direct shot to his house via my truck is about 17 miles, but I have to cross the river which means I have to go north through downtown over a bridge and then ride south, which has some sketchy roadway to get there. Lots of construction going on at the moment that I did not realize they were doing which made the ride a little more exciting than I was expecting.

23 whopping miles with a 14 and then 16% pitch, BUT had 2 firsts for age range on the climb. big fish in a small pond

Snoqualmie River

The MUP ran out and turned into this - so I rode it.

Casual 57 miles, but did hit a few roads requiring some endurance. Glad I brought 2x the amount of hydration!

it has been cumbersome trying to net those miles with many obstacles in the way recently.

Met up with some folks for a Memorial Day group ride. Was to be an easy pace 60. I got 10 miles in and my legs were having none of it, so I said my goodbye's and limped my way home. got an unsatisfactory 20.

Lived in Laguna Beach when going to UCI. It was hell on the weekends on PCH but I always drove/rode the backroads

Had something interesting happen today. Was riding in a very rural area with just a few houses surrounded by forest. Heard a dog bark, which is not unusual, but then heard the unmistakable clatter of claws moving quickly over pavement. I got out of the saddle and did my best impersonation of a sprint and got up to 28MPH still with the claws behind me. Looked back and no dog. Looked forward again and there was a dog 30 feet in front of me, now running through the grass. I stopped not knowing what it would do. It immediately ran toward me and I put the bike between me and the dog. Its tail was wagging which can mean one of two things - happy or agitated. After a 30 second stand-off it came closer still wagging and wanted a head scratch. So we had a good minute of pats and scratches and I took off again with the dog pacing me 1/4 mile down the road, running for the fun of it. It probably weighted 35 lbs, brown with long legs and definitely was built for speed and loved to run. Luckily it ran to someone’s house and I could continue on unaccompanied. Total miles 26, total smiles - too many.

Light week last week...not really any noteworthy rides other than a short XC MTB race. Back to my home roads and elevation gain now.

Did this one today...not very long, but contained a "HC" category climb. Even the flattish part of the ride was lumpy.

A bit more climbing today, both are 1 hour+ long climbs. Unfortunately, my GI issues returned on this ride. I'm starting to think a visit to the Doc might be in order, this issue seems to be one that I can't "train" myself out of...it's not a consistent issue either. Some weeks I feel great and can do 6 hour rides up in the mountains without issue, other times I feel crappy within a couple hours.

Didn’t feel like it today but went out anyway and was later glad I did. 28 miles with 2100’ climbing in 4 miles.
