Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have some specialized recon and giro republics with laces. I really like the Recons. The Republics are just OK but that's because they're not very stiff, the laces are fine.

I like laces because they're more adjustable and there's less to go wrong--I've had ratchets eventually wear out and BOA dials snap off.

If you're using cleats though, just double check compatibility. A lot of the shoes with laces are only compatible with 2-bolt. Giro makes one that is compatible with 3-bolt. I'm probably going to order it soon.

Interesting, thanks fellas....I had read that they ran small and suggestions to order one size up. I appreciate it
I usually find shoe size discussions pretty nebulous. When people say they "wear a size X US".. in what type or brand of shoe? I have some Giros.. I wear a size 13 dress/boat/flipflop shoe. I wear a size 14 running/bball/skate (eg Nike) shoe. I wear a size 49 Giro. I wear a size 49 Sidi as well.

ymmv
