very nice.
that painted by graphic…
why I never even made an inquiry.
what I thought silly was the later “cat. 2” finish was basically what they called OEM level.
so, make the client seem cheap that they did not go cat.1? Not everyone wants graphics buried under lots of clear.
but only the labels live on now.

He refused to take delivery unless they either remove the plate, fill the holes and repainted, or paid him $500 for advertising for them.

different take: my dad used to custom order his cars. Once a car was delivered with the dealers name, riveted to the back of the body.

locally Lou Ehler’s Cadillac placed a nameplate on the trunk lid. They tried to push it as a upscale thing.
the company that produced them? GM Nameplate.

I don’t think of them as premier, but no matter, they are long gone.

Not that I have a lot of experience, but I don't know of another paint shop that did/does the same. And how are they premiere over the other shops?

Not mine, but I'm thinking about it. A '72 SC for sale by the Marin Museum of Cycling. Has a couple issues, (sweaty top tube, cracked crank arm), but is currently going for $1750. I'm pretty sure I'll have one of these one day, don't know if it's this particular one, though.

Here is a Cinelli currently in my care. Has about 10 miles from new. Hung in the office of it's former (original) owner for 40 years after he rode it twice.
at some point I'll pull it out and take some better pictures. Original except for a set of wheels Spence built for me, and a set of Jim Merz titanium crank bolts. Display only. S/N 4719

I'd bet those are wheels built by Spence Wolf, Phil hubs, Superchamp rims, T&S rear are the tells. That bike is right in the borderline of refinish or leave original.

This bike was built for Tim Wilson by Spence Wolf, dean of NorCal custom builds. Spence also built the wheels.
Hubs: Phil Wood, 36/36 hole, 100/120mm, about first year of production, with chrome-plated barrels
Rims: Super Champion Record du Monde
