this is a bummer IMHO
am thinking I am either going to have to get a couple of sets of current Ultegra or look to switching to Campy for either vintage frame with modern mechanics, or hoped for custom....or just stick with 105

Personally, if I had the money to buy new Dura Ace, I'd probably put it on either a top level CF bike OR a custom steel, something like Officina Battaglin makes.
But I don't. So I'll keep buying old bikes with old groupsets.

I have predicted in the past the electronic shifting will hit cheapy depart store bikes sooner than we think, because the labor to just put a wireless deraillers and shifters will be that much less expensive than dealing with cables

The cost of new group sets is abysmal. I can purchase a full course from the Ford Performance Racing School and learn how to drive a performance car professionally (Mustang GT provided), or I can buy 1/2 of a functional bike that shifts electronically.
You can get into nearly any other professional sport, or you can have 1/2 a bike. You can purchase a new vehicle or put a down payment on property, or you can have 1/2 a bike.
Push to start index fingers and shifters have worked for decades. The greatest of all time didn’t use di2!

Most of the bikes around this forum were built as well engineered, simple, long lasting machines. With new tech, the manufacturers have delivered high performance and high cost, not very simple, not long lasting machines.
Just like the new cars, the new bikes will be junked due to high cost of repair.

When 11 now 12 were coming out I snagged a few good 9 and 10 wheel sets for pennies on the dollar. Waiting for the rim brakes to come along now.

3 or 4,years from now, 9200 won't be capable of running the newest updates and 9400 will require a renewable yearly contract. I read the above linked review and the only part I kinda understand is "faster shifting"
