Yes, I am an idiot.

I see the reason for the difficulty to break it apart.
All that black looks amazing against the gold.

I picked up this humble Vent Noir earlier this year and adapted it a bit for my first Cino ride. I’ve posted pics of it before. It worked out great for the ride and here it is, all salty from Cino. Had the original spec 1st generation black DA components that were a good match for the bike but I swapped out some. I’m really impressed with the old DA stuff - very smooth, quiet, and reliable.

There was plenty of room to fit 35s.

I replaced the the long cage Crane RD with a Duopar that I’ve had good experience with.

Still keeping the Crane.

For Cino, I replaced these cool drilled 53-42 rings with 50-39 (still first gen I think.) The modern flats are a cheat though.

Didn’t have the original spec wheels but I like the wheels it came with - high flange Campy hubs laced to Super Champion Gentleman rims. The seller threw in another set wheels with DA hubs if I want to go full DA. I’d like to find a black set of early DA hubs. I saw some on eBay but $$$.

Here is mine - Dura Ace 7400, except for the levers, which are Campy and allow for the over the bar routing required for Eroica Gaiole.

Yes - I've ridden this bike on the medium 135K route in 2019, and the long 209K route this year. It is a good set up for the ride - the frame allows me to run 28's and the Merckx geometry works well for the combo of roads and gravel.

The photo is from the square in Gaiole.

Another '78, this one a custom Davidson with early Dura Ace group. Modern rims have replaced the original hookless Concaves and there are Tektrop calipers and 1050 non-aero levers for events with steep downhills like Cino and Eroica.

An '84 Eddy Merckx Pro SLX. Dura Ace 7403 with a Sugino TD compact crankset. Will only run 25's so not for the faint hearted on gravel.

'87 Schwinn Tempo, respray by Jack at Franklin Frames. DA 7700 with a set of ten speed shifters. This one will take 28's and has a compact crank that can be run as a triple.

Pelizzoli custom, made for me by Sr. P in 2015. Has been to both Cino and Eroica. Now running 650B wheels with 38's, DA 7700.
Great note and comment on the Merckx and 25's. I can get 28's on my 89 Corsa Extra and for Gaiole 2021, I did all of my training on the 28's. However at the last minute, while packing the bike for the trip, I decided to put on some 25's as they are faster for me. Got to Italy, rode once on the 25's on the Strade around Montalcino, couldn't get any traction going up or cornering. Super sketchy due to how dry the white roads were this year. I was glad that I had packed the 28's as backups.
