Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My most spectacular narcotic prescription experience was in the emergency room at the old Walter Reed, where I had gone because of suddenly developing spinal cord compression and going all tingly from the neck down. I did my business with the neurosurgeons, who had been following me, and went to sign out with the contractor ER chief. He completed his forms, went to the cabinet and got me, like, 20 Percocets. I assured him I was in no pain, but he said, "Take them, you might need them."

After the ensuing surgery, LSS and I got a stern lecture from the team, warning that I was to take my pain meds (another 40 oxy or something) as prescribed and not a pill less. However, LSS was disgusted by my junkie affect and slurred speech on the narc and made it plain. She also insisted that someone accompany me when I left the house for walks because she thought the chances were good I'd wander off and be found face down in a ditch. I was off the narcs in 36 hrs.

I still have a bunch and need to dispose of it.

I gave the Percosets to my friend when he broke his hip and ran out of meds. I still have the Gabapentin around here somewhere.
I had Vicodin when I had oral surgery but I only took 2 or 3 of them. I gave the rest to a friend because he liked them.

My addiction has returned, finally.

And the spoke noise is gone.

I read yesterday, in local news, that the Mexican National Guard first plants evidence, and later offers pay-offs, to cover up their misdeeds(usually mistakes, not active misdeeds, though wrongful death is often the outcome)
The National Guard is accompanying every vaccine shipment, beginning with its arrival in the country and ending after it's injected into an arm. You don't want to make any sudden moves while awaiting the needle. They are armed and at the ready.

I was diagnosed with compressed discs years ago, I think it was L4 and L5 also. I was given Nortriptyline. I had lower back pain that radiated down my legs. That totally cured the pain. Never thought about it. Then my doctor said that wasn't a good idea for elderly people and I was given Gabapentin. I take 300mg twice a day. I guess from reading this that isn't that much. Doesn't seem to work as well, but then I'm a lot older than I was.

I wanted to make a joke about us putting our excess on the market, but I’d probably get an infraction for that level of insensitivity.

If your route takes you down I-40 east out of Knoxville, tell whoever is driving the truck to take it easy once you hit the mountains. I did the same drive with a 26' Penske truck and a car in tow, and the twists and turns will definitely get your attention. Safe trip.

Wait, how did you get Mrs. Abshipp to drive the truck? I need to learn that trick.

So I am not the only one who noticed that.

I took some after my thumb surgery, but never as many in a day as the Rx said and probably for no more than a week. I still have a bunch left over. Took a OTC stool softener when I was taking the pain killers. They are purple. Fun.

There's a bike messenger streaming on Twitch

1) Riding in NYC is something else.
2) This takes cyberstalking to the next level.
