Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Personally, I think starting school before 8:30 is uncivilized.
I remember from my working days (feels strange to write that) traffic was always worse when school was in session.

Oregon state Rep. James Hieb was arrested at the Clackamas County Fair on Wednesday night.

He told KATU it was over a woman asking him to put out a cigarette.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest but offered no further details.

The House Republican caucus said it is disappointed and encouraged him to focus on his family and “getting the help he needs.”

He needs help with smoking?

Back when I used to ride in the mornings before work I discovered that, during the school year, I HAD TO get out the door by 7:30, because even 5 minutes later and I'd be fighting minivans and SUVs for 2+ miles along the Alameda, all doing the slow crawl to find a place to drop off the kids. Then in June, it magically went away!

Every year at the start of school, I can never remember if I am supposed to stop for school buses. I am not looking forward to the busses or extra traffic.

Not sure how it could even be competitive. 😔

The Texas/OU game during the middle of the fair brings out all the hotties though. We have that going for us.

Here they have flashing red lights which mean stop. Apparently it isn't enough because some busses have added a semaphore stop sign.
Drivers are getting more crazy, even though they seem nicer when I'm on the bike.

School buses here have cameras too. The drivers are a very mixed bag.

What would you want drivers to do if your kid was getting on/off a bus?

In MN, at least, you need to stop if they're stopped, with lights flashing and/or stop sign extended, unless you're on the other side of a divided roadway.

Here too. I sometimes ask permission to pass if they’re waiting for “that” kid.

FWIW, none of mine was the "stranding" sort, just ABS/ emissions/ CD changer type things. And certainly any new-model teething issues should have been resolved on this one by now.

Also FWIW, I seem to hav read that no other country does our school bus and stop all traffic thing. Either our kids are dumber or our drivers are worse.

Or both, of course.

I like the first edition of the M coupe too. I'd consider it for the "fun car". But, I fear, I've missed the bottom of the depreciation curve.

Uhhh, there are plenty of examples online of drivers idiots passing stopped busses on the right...

They never depreciated much. Now I'd want more toys and so maybe the Z4 M Coupe (original only), but really... the GX does what I actually want from a car these days.
