16 hours into fiber optic and we lost signal. They put it back and it went again. They are blaming our second modem not being configured with their modem. It worked fine for those first 16 hours. Wife is being all touchy feely and I'm playing polite hardball. We will use our old system until Monday.
In other news I'm 24 hours into the cold. I'm due for the second multi symptom pill in about an hour. I have a lot of experience with these things. The first one gets me nice and high for an hour and then does nothing The second lasts most of the eight hours and by the fourth it's smooth sailing I have an eye appointment on the 28th, that was scheduled three months ago.
I can't remember ever sneezing this much.

It feels ironic as a water department employee that a neighboring unit had a pipe burst and we may be without water until Monday, but I also know that our responsibility stops at the meter.
Doesn't make it any less annoying though.

If I were made of money, I might get one. But first, Giovanni Battaglin would be given the opportunity to make me another bike.

Rango is such a sandbagger. We went for about a mile walk, around a long block where the high school is. The whole way, he's trotting along at a pace I can barely keep up with, till we turn toward home. He starts going slower and slower, to the point where I worry that he's worn himself out - he is over 13 years old, after all. Finally when we're about 1/4 of a block from home, we're approaching a side street he likes. He starts angling across the lawn of the house on the corner. I try to get him back to the route we were taking, but he seems adamant. So we start down the side street. 3 seconds, he's back up to the same fast pace I can barely keep up with.
He's a dog of very small brain, but he gets very definite ideas about which way he wants to go.

When I woke up this morning the wind was blowing pretty hard and I was apprehensive about a club ride, but I went out there anyway and it was a pretty good turnout. About 15 riders on the route I took but this one lady turned around and went home at about 12 miles, before any climbing started. She is known for that and I asked people who know her why she didn't just pick an easier ride but it's a mystery.
Turned out the wind wasn't too bad for most of it and I actually felt pretty good. By the time we got back into town we had headwinds for several miles and this little woman got on the front. It's weird to have the smallest rider pulling across the valley but she is pretty young and probably didn't burn so many matches in the hills because she weighs about 110 pounds, if that. I told everyone she was being mean and she said "yeah, I'm such a b****h". We all laughed.
It was pretty fun and I'm glad I went

Are they back to mailing out roundels or just giving pats on the back? I was kind of miffed when I completed my second F500 and only got a virtual roundel. I need more motivation than that to ride 500 chilly-ass km in 8 days.

I’m not looking forward to riding 300+ miles indoors over the next month, let alone 8 days! I hate my 8-10-12-15 mile Zwifts enough as it is to commit to anything like that insanity.
But I love skiing so I need the winter. And my wife loves skiing too, but she’s a BQer so she’s running hill repeats and tempos all winter long. Our house becomes quite bipolar this time of year…

******g A. In Dulles, that went fine, but flight to Albany is delayed. By several hours. Now allegedly leaving at 3:45 or so, Atomic Dad said not to try the drive, as it would take an hour to even get to the rental spot and there are no cars anyway. Sitting in the Turkish Air lounge thanks to getting Priority Pass through my Marriott card.
All apologies to Bam, but I hate flying so much.

Cold medicine.
And just an hour and a half til the next round.
Christmas eve and New Year's eve are all night parties. In the olden days, living in Merida and setting out for a day long ride, I would ride past the remnants of bleary-eyed people breakfasting. Much later I learned that many of those partiers then loaded up the kids and drove home. And learned to stay off the main roads.
