I bought some of that $3 bar tape direct from China. The bar plugs are molded with an image of... bar tape!

And if you look closely at the molded image of the bar plugs...?

I honestly assumed that was some badly molded trademark but I suppose it could be bar tape and plugs all the way down to the subatomic level

It's not a secret. Many different sellers. It's just cork foam with no adhesive layer. This example came from...

It's dirt cheap from eBay or AliExpress. I used to buy these 0.89$ / pack and they work just fine. No adhesive layer but it's not needed tbh. It gets a bit slippery when wet.

At least the price is right. But, beware, I am pretty sure the dork disk is broken.

I just laughed REALLY hard in my office...

I think that bike was made intentionally to like like that though. If you look, spokes have been laced at wacky positions.

I suppose it would be prudent to re-true that front wheel. I think I can make out a flat spot, but its kind of a grainy picture. Might want to have a look at that crank arm too.

The real deal breaker is it comes with only one pedal

I got a couple rolls of this yesterday. Transit time: 30 days. If you need to do 2-3 bikes right now, order it a month ago.

It's decent stuff, though. Good enough for a flip bike you're not getting a lot of money for, or on one of your own rides you're not quite sure what to do with yet.

What does that get you? Seems like it'd adversely affect handling.

It does affect handling. But less than one might guess. The frame is intended to run with 29er wheels, and the 26 rims with 4 inch wide tires comes out to about the same diameter. So the geometry is not really different. But all that rubber up front is heavy and floppy.

Why? Mostly just to play around with it, to be honest. And I actually use the bike more with 29er wheels on it. I have heard it argued that the fat front tire is another way to have suspension up front. I guess that is true, but for any kind of riding that actually needed suspension then its not a great substitute. Its more fun than useful.

Good! Still kicking around here. How are you? You have been in KY for a two or three years now? PA is a little worse off without you.

Can't decide whether to post this one in "wacky" or "looking" thread.

Reasons for the wacky thread: V brakes on an ancient frame, hideous paint job, badly mismatched fork, and "The guy i bought from said it was a paramount frame, but not sure."

Reasons for I might have posted it in the other thread: Likely a quality frame. Nervex? lugs and forged dropouts, and how many frames like this have canti studs, and "The guy i bought from said it was a paramount frame, but not sure."

Road bike with lugged frame

Tubing is best, full Reynolds 531 with sticker on the seat tube or down tube (year dependent) and 531 stickers on fork blades, chrome socks front and rear. Simplex dropouts. Lugs and colors varied over the course of production and cranks were Stronglight 93 and then 99 but various French components otherwise; Mafac brakes varied by model over the years, as did the Normandy hubs and Simplex derailleurs.

I feel like it's safer to simply flee any 70's bike with Peugeot decals
