Just curious how everyone likes to recover after extra long rides, intense races, or just overall very strenuous activity?
Personally, I’m a huge advocate for foam rolling, loosens the back and everything else, and I use a massage gun to loosen up my quads, hams, and calves almost nightly. Closest thing to deep tissue work I can get on a very regular basis.
I’ve also recently started seeing a sports chiro, but that’s not really indicative of a “regular” recovery routine as I’m still treating a few things there and haven’t gotten to a “maintenance” schedule so to speak……

Of late, I have been on a preventative protocol. I skip out on long rides.

Coffee and food shortly afterwards. Sometimes on hot days a cool shower. A hot shower on cold days. Seldom to never do I stretch or foam roll although that could always change one day.

Who sez? I don't need to do anything special to "recover " from a very intense 25 mile ride. I'm a hell of a lot more tired after a bit less intense 130 mile ride.

Oh I was thinking of asking YOUR mother since it's obvious you've been in and out of that hallway before.
I didn't know you are Korean! My family is American.

For me, a glass of wine, a big fat joint, and fun with the wife if she is recovered enough.
Seriously, I do some yoga and just pay attention to getting enough rest. If I do an extra long ride one day,I might only ride a couple miles the next to warm up and do lots of stretching-yoga. I am not competing with anyone, so I do what I feel like doing. I don't need to make sure my STRAVA numbers are worthy.

OK, now I'm stuck trying to figure out what Yoga Strava would look like.

Recover? Are you sore or tired? I'm usually ready to ride again if someone ask to go.
I drink plenty of fluid while cycling and seldom loose even a pound maybe two after a 4 hour ride in the heat. I also drink not quite a liter of recovery mix after every ride. I'm finding that chocolate milk works very well. I'm using chocolate soy milk.
Other than that, what's to recover after a ride? I mow the grass, walk 3 to 5 miles with my wife and pretty much anything else.
Or are you just asking what we do to relax?

The guy he was quoting was discussing a 4 hour ride of undefined intensity. I'm 60, and i do rides that are sometimes a fairly hilly 8 hours. I'm definitely tired and sore after that, but I'm with you on not doing all that "recovery" stuff. I need a shower, food, about a gallon of water over several hours, and a good night's sleep.

Congratulations on being way above the norm. Must be good genes. Too bad about the chocolate milk

After about a zillion of the stretch vs. don't arguments, I've come to the conclusion that some of us, including myself, are just not stretchy, so none of that stretch/yoga stuff does anything but waste our time and make us uncomfortable.
