This proves my craziness right here:
Some of you guys know of my marriage problems. Recently things have been better but some days (like Saturday evening) we take several steps backwards. I've been fighting to stay confident, upbeat, and positive while on the phone with her and while I'm with her. Well, this morning I was watching a Six Million Dollar Man DVD while on the trainer. Today I was doing low-key SST stuff just to spin my legs for a couple of hours. This episode was when the Bionic Woman was introduced - a 2 part episode. Steve bought a ranch back at his hometown and ran into Jamie who was his longtime love. They fell in love again and started planning a wedding. That was before the skydiving accident where Jamie's shoot malfunctioned and she came crashing to earth.
Blah blah blah
I found myself several times tearing up. I was losing it. I think I've gone batsh*** crazy, y'all. Crying? There's no crying on the trainer unless your in such pain from intervals.

Aren't you still in high school? Seriously, I run my mouth here a lot, but if there's one thing I'm sure I know nothing about, then it's adult relationships. I mean, I was a big enough idiot in college. When it comes to the real world, I'm dumbfounded. When it comes to adult matters, I just wish well and hope for the best. I just don't have the experience or insight to add.
Not a quip at you per se. More of a lack of knowledge from me.
I was going to comment on that too

nah, the rendez-vous with the mistress is best done in a seedy motel. Fancy hotels for the wife, and the *******, of course

The road to recovery (in anything) is rarely a straight line. There are always setbacks. It's just about keeping that big boulder you are pushing moving in the right direction. Sounds like you are doing a good job of that. Keep on keepin' on!

I think, just in case, I'll listen to some driving coldwave music Friday when I'm on the trainer. Maybe watch the Flintstones on mute.
Should suppress and emotions.

The piece I've been working on for a bit isn't ready, so I think I'm going to perform a piece that I wrote two years ago instead. I have atleast one other piece that I can perform, so I'll give myself 2 weeks to dial down this one. Just need to finish the writing and get the flow and rhythm down!
I'm a little nervous. It has been so long now...
Don't suppress emotions. That just leads to outbursts later. You're going to have to work through this stuff sooner or later.
I'm hoping they have some programs like the ones others mentioned (sliding scale etc) because I think it might help you guys out. Good on you for keeping on trying.

RAAM starts next Wednesday and I just found out my friend/clubmate is doing it again solo. He is 64 and has finished twice, the first time he was the first over 60 official finisher ever. Nuts.
Elite Fred
HTFU and start in Georgia. That first bit is pretty hard.
And you can start next year where you left off this year. People that hike this trail are into that kind of thing.
What boots are you using? A couple of years ago my beloved Norwegian welt boots that I owned since the 1970's finally rotted so badly that they could not be salvaged. I'm too old to get on Limmer's waiting list for a custom built pair. (Limmer boots are to hiking as Richard Sachs or Vanillia is to custom bike frames, BTW.) The hiking boots I now own I would only trust for day hiking or weekend backpacking.
