Not classic but "Ride the Divide" (on Netflix) is a great documentary of the race from Canada to Mexico on MTBs.

Imperfection is Perfection, a documentary about Richard Sachs.

Anybody catch "Blood, Sweat & Gears"?
Not a movie, but a cool documentary about the Garmin-Cervello teams preperation for the TDF. It was playing on the Sundance Channel. Here's a preview -

I wish someone would release Sunday In Hell on blu ray. I have a projector and large screen and a film such as this properly restored in high definition ( this was shot on 35mm Eastmancolor film stock ) would really do this piece of cycling history justice. I wonder who owns the rights?

Favorite obscure cycling documentary is "Hammer And Hell," about the 1991 Tour Dupont. Really entertaining.
Favorite obscure Kevin Bacon movie is "Pyrates" with Kyra Sedgwick.
Favorite movie with cycling in it is "American Flyer," which I vastly prefer to "Breaking Away." "Two Seconds," mentioned earlier, is IMO a better "film" than either.

I own this one - also a great movie, with scenes of Eddy in stage races to complement "Sunday." Also, the finish of the '73 World Championship Road Race is well documented. Plus glimpses of some of Eddy's bikes - one of his training bikes with the non-Eddy "Colnago" Molteni headbadge decal, and a Giro bike with a spade cutout in the fork crown. "Stars and Watercarriers" and "Greatest Show on Earth" are also good.

Though not classic, The Hard Road is far more watchable than most cycling movies.
As far as crap movies go, Breaking Away is a classic must see. American Flyers is OK, but Quicksilver is less painful than either of those two. Don't think you'll be immune from cycling stupidity such as shifting down to increase speed, people somehow coast on fixies, you hear freewheel pawls clicking in real fixies, chainrings constantly change size, etc.

If you want to watch something really bad I suggest "Key Exchange". It is a horrible mid-80's romance, but it does have a bike racing based sub plot, mainly NCY Park racing. Just a bad, bad, bad movie.
