Can you tell me how to put it back together, and if there's a way to make the shifter work again now that it's worn out after barely 2,000km ?

Sure, although I don't see why it would last longer since it was never meant to be used as intensively as a derailleur shifter anyway.

Hello
just retrofitted by 2007 S type 2 speed Brompton with this shifter kit from Ebay. It fits well and works well. You will need some shifter housing and cut to length.
