First Ride
Into the Doctor for follow up and the words were "Yes you can" from her. The question was "Can I cycle"
Wooohooo. Got home and after much thought, out I went. First time on road since 2015 accident!!!! To say I was a bit intimidated ath the thought finally becoming reality is an understatement! It was easy to think of riding again when it was not yet possible, but when all lights were green, a whole new set of thoughts arose.
But...alas, I got on the bike. It was a short 5 mile ride and to say I am out of shape is so true. I did an out and back from my house with a mix of road and gravel. Rolling hills and steep, short accents! It liked to killed me lol! 5 miles? Really? Wow. Yet I was more satisfied with that ride than all of the centurys I accomplished in the past! It was fun and reminding me of why I ride! To get that feeling I had as a kid getting his first bike, (A Schwinn Stingray) to getting my first 10 speed in 1979 (A Murry my dad bought from Gold Circle and let me help put it together) I can truly say that that outside of family and God, I have never had a more joyous heart!
What and awesome day I had and in-spite of the anxiety, I rode.

Damn! That's a tough doctor.
I sorta know how you felt, as I was off 3 months after getting pasted by a van before sneaking a 10 mile ride New Years Day.
Great that you have the 'right' attitude - keep it up!

Welcome back! After being off the bike for 15 years, the most important thing I found in my return to cycling and rebuilding my fitness was being consistent with my schedule.
