They say that late-June to well after Labor Day is too hot to race down here. I say that today was too hot. It is currently 99 F at the Ocala NWS station. That is even hotter than the 97 F with Florida humidity during yesterday's time trial.

Nice work getting a PR in this heat today. It's brutal state wide, high 90's with lots of humidity.

Met Hammy yesterday. Nice people. Wound up giving Mollusks teammate some water on the last lap. I really just wanted to retch from the heat with 3 miles to go.

State TT's. I'm going to still just ride for fun this month. I'll spend 60% of my time on the TT bike in July. I'll be up in Dallas next weekend to have Ex set me up with his set up.

In my race the selection that killed me was through the feed zone. Sometimes $h1t happens. It ended up killing my race, but the course was 180-degrees from being suitable from me, so I was just tickled to finish. Of course if I was closer to the front at that time...
I would have been shelled later.

Riding west along PCH through Malibu yesterday, I began to pass a long line of cyclists coming at me heading east. Some kind of large group ride because they all had number tags hanging from their top tubes. I began to notice many of them had adorned their helmets with any number of decorations. I saw pig and pony tails of various lengths and colors, Roman gladiator style, rainbow afro wig helmets, CindyLou Who antennas, Spock ears, young Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer stub antlers, whirly top beanie helmets, Arsenio Hall/Kid 'N Play flat tops, Jack-in-the-box, pencil holder, glow sticks, arrow-thru-helmet... you name it. Some went all out with a costume ensemble. For example:
Hundreds upon hundreds of them went past me. I shook my head and laughed out loud plenty at what I saw. I finally was able to inquire at a stop light who, what... Turns out it was the 2500 strong AIDS/Lifecycle ride, a 6 day event from San Fran to LA. It was their last day.

Kidd, that's hilarious, not sure how I would have kept from laughing.
Has anyone ever done the attleboro, ma crit in july? Me and a couple of other juniors from bf are doing it, just trying to figure out what the course is like, etc.

The heat has been brutal and I'm a native who usually doesn't pay much attention to it.
