Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Looks great, but it would look roughly 11% better with some classy clips/straps instead of the dorky reflector pedals.

This thread has been full of win lately, very rare.

Is that your Arione? How come it has weird stripe on the side?

agreed, i am not sure my bikes are helping next to the gios.

and yes- i took it off the cross bike because it wasn't very comfortable for cross, but is great on the road. the stripe is electric tape to protect a rip on the back.

Your "Serpent" looks so clean, very minimal and subtle, yet it packs a ****ing punch. Quite extraordinary.

after riding a scandium 58cm all day, riding this on my grocery run was VERY different but still really good. it's really not very stiff, but it is still direct as hell and a powerful ride. i think i'll switch the chainrings so the cross bike has a 42/18 and this has a 44/17ff19. that will improve both bikes.

44/17 is my favourite ratio, it's the perfect ratio for me and damn, 58cm, no wonder you said it was slightly too big.

please don't do drops, that's more jackass than risers. I'm fairly certain with that geo that bike was built for bullhorns. that looks like a solid foot of saddle bar drop, which just seems excessive if you throw drop bars on there.

but that's just me.

also, I like njs builds

Some really sick bikes on this page! Hopefully the LBS will get my bullhorns in soon so i can go snap some new pics of the bike! I found i can fit a 700c wheel with 700x25c tire on the mtn bike frame instead of the 26'' wheel setup i have now. Looks pretty funny actually, kinda neat. Although i'm not switching to the 700c combo, just seeing if it would work. I dig the 26'' with beefier tires, Its nicer for the commute when i have to go over some curbs or cut threw some nasty parking lots. Anywho, i'll post pics when i get the new bars on.

So can you walk it through the kitchen, or do you have to haul the bike over top of your couch every time? That's gonna get annoying.

Nice looking place, though.
