Riding after the Big Snip
I just had this last Thursday, for anyone interested I blogged about it here:
https://zerotopanmass.wordpress.com/
It didn't disappoint in the pain-department, I can honestly say I've never felt anything quite like it. And that's not a good thing.
Question for those fellow members of the Broken Arrow Club, how long before you got back in the saddle? ( Talking about bikes, not women. ) I'm starting to feel human again 4 days after, but don't want to go busting anything...

After 4 days I did not feel remotely human. Seven days yes. I had problems even walking or jogging for months afterward. Then again I had complications. I couldn't run for almost 2 years due to pain.
Hope you get back soon.

I felt pretty decent after a week, but didn't want to push my luck. I got back on the bike (on a trainer) in ten days, without any discomfort. I waited a couple extra days before going out on the road, figuring that the road would be worse with bumps, etc. That first ride was not a problem, nor did I have any problems afterwards. Overall, I thought my experience in recovery was very good.

I had mine done on Friday afternoon. Rode to work on Monday. YMMV.
I was lucky, I think, but Mrs. Caloso carried, delivered, and nursed twins. I didn't feel like I had much to complain about.

Took me two weeks to even remotely start feeling better - and I followed advice to a tee. Cold compresses, rest, etc. I recall HATING the discoloration (I wasn't expecting that!) and I remember taking showers being painful the first couple of days.
I had the one week checkup and I remarked that it felt like I had been kicked in the testicles - FOR A WEEK! That pain was just always there. After 14 days things started returning to normal. A month later I was fine.
MAKE SURE YOU GET THE THREE MONTH TEST DONE!!!! I have a friend who didn't and he has another child now! I went exactly after three months and I was cleared.
To the gentleman who said he couldn't imagine doing that to his body; doing what? There is no physical pain at all now, no noticeable difference in anything I do and it makes sex unreal. I don't want to get too crude here but what kind of protection are you using? Wife on the pill? That causes all kinds of trouble - hormones, weight gain, and many unknowns. Condoms? Ick. IUD? Seriously? Rhythym method? Enjoy your next kid! Abstinence? Just kidding!
We had our child and knew that was it for us. At 40 years old I was done with the kid thing and wanted to enjoy an awesome and spontaneous relationship with my wife - with no surprises and no worries. Trust me - women appreciate it. Well, mine did!
Sorry for the graphic answer. You'll be good to go in two weeks.

that made me laugh!
ya, about 2 weeks for me too, and
+2 on how my wife had all the real fun and pain of two childbirths, so a little odd uncomfortableness during the procedure doesnt compare, and yes another +2 to the joys of worryless boinking afterwards. We sure didnt want more kids.

There seems to be not commonality in the recovery from the big snip. I wonder why?? I had mine done somewhere around 1967 and went to a convention that evening, even did some slow dancing. I was good to go in a few days. I wonder why some are so much more painful?

I believe I waited 7 days before I hopped on the trainer....
Probably should have a waited a few days longer, but in the end nothing major happened because of it....Just some added discomfort that probably could have been avoided...

2 weeks for non-serious riding and 1 month before I joined the fast group rides. I had no real complications though.

Think it was about 2 weeks for me but the wife refused to even let me go out in case there was complications.
For the record tho it did hurt at all even during the op
Due to have my final test next month.

Not sure what hack doctors you guys went to, but I had mine done in 2009 and was on the bike less than 24 hrs later for the usual morning ride. Sure, it was a little sore on the bumps, but bib tights held everything together nicely. No slowdowns or problems.
My urologist (the chief of urology at Johns Hopkins Hospital) specifically told me that there was *nothing* I could do to hurt it afterwards, so I was free to go do anything that I was comfortable doing. Heck, it took longer to drive there than for the procedure. I should've ridden my bike to/from the appt.
