That Tarmac is hot as f. The paint job is unique and intricate without looking busy or gaudy and the setup is on point. If it were my bike, I'd ditch the gumwalls and swap out the cages for Tacx Devas, but it still looks great regardless.

I guess "doesn't ride as well" might not be the most accurate / objective term. Basically it's a matter of preference and taste. The campy is something that definitely takes some getting used to. When I compare it to my TCR I find the TCR to be a little more responsive and feels lighter on its feet. The tarmac may be a bit more comfy but the TCR just feels like it wants to be ridden hard while also being very comfy. That tarmac as pictured comes in at 13.8lbs. I think it might be too light for me @ 165lbs. The wheels are not as stiff as I would like them to be, they are only 1,190g for the pair.

It comes down to taste. I acknowledge that the build is top notch and not a single detail was spared but when it comes down to my flavor of bike, the TCR takes the edge in overall feel.

I race the TCR so I push it to its limits more often, the Tarmac I ride on beautiful Sunny Sunday afternoons to go drink coffee 50 miles away from home. The TCR I beat up senseless.

Does that make any sense?

Fair enough. Good looking bike. My nitpick...a zero setback seatpost would probably work well, given your saddle position.

Mavic Ksyrium Pro Carbon SL with 22mm Vittoria Corsa G+ tubulars. Those wheels are more suited to <140lbs riders looking to climb gaps, not a classics kinda body. I kinda wish i would have opted for the Cosmic Ultimates

Finally got the group set together and got around to building this up.... Version 1 notes: The green tape is temporary ($2 ebay just so I'd have something to build it with). Haven't found the "right" tape for it yet. This saddle is parts bin, and after yesterdays ass beating, may be headed to the trash bin. Debating white tape and saddle, but I despise white tape because you just can't keep it clean.

32t cassette is temporary. It will end up on my SL4 which will be reincarnated as a Red22 climbing build for the really nasty rides like Hincapie or anything over 15% at race pace. This bike will get a 28. I'm going WiFLi on both so I can have total wheel compatibility between bikes.

No garage doors in NYC, not really staged... shot in the wild, so to speak. Oh, and I didn't mount those tires, they came with the wheels.

Was too excited to get photo and hadn't taken refectors off yet. The Orange cages match the Orange accent color. I know it's not 41 hot.

As an Athena over 50 I won't be slamming the stem. Haha

I was intrigued by the teaser photo, but disappointed with the final result.

The paint looks great, but the solid white logos ruin it. If you remove the chainstay and fork logos, and replaced the downtube logo with a white outline version, it would look much better. The bar tape is bad, but you explained that choice.

Slamming it is unnecessary(and usually looks stupid). I was thinking a slightly lower bar to saddle might be better, but you know your flexibility far better than I do.

I actually did not check to see if seat height was adjusted based on my fit measurements. I was dumb and did not bring my shoes to get a real feel and see fit. I will get in there later if I can't get it set up on my own using my fit measurements which I have... They had my now retired Madone there to compare seat height but not sure if they actually checked it. I got on it and cruised the parking lot in my sneakers before taking home.

Have the shop check the rear brake housing by the seat tube while you are there. It looks way too long and those extra bends are going to make that brake feel awful. Of course, it may be like that for a reason I can't see but it sure doesn't look right to me.

As far as looks, I'd be tempted to add orange bar tape, too, to get a little more color. But then again my sense of a good looking bike isn't necessarily in tune with the masses

Orange lizard skins are in the future. Possibly orange speedplay. The ones on there are from my old bike and were given to me.

Will have that brake cable looked at. I agree it looks odd.

I'm ok with the logos, played with the s-works outline but didn't like how it got lost in the patterns. Patch and Poseur are team logos and match the kit. As my race bike (for anything without selective climbs) I find them completely on point.

Ironically, I got more positive feedback on the bar tape with the paint and kit than anything else. Go figure. I'm thinking white tape / white saddle ties it together. The logos aren't really white, they're a pearl cream. The tonal range in the paint is striking in the sun, but impossible to photograph.

Built out at 15lbs, w/ eTap / GXP. Pedals, cages, Garmin took it to 15.75. I think skewers and SLR carbonio saddle gets it back down closer to 15.25.

I will say this for it: no matter where I rode, people were all over it. I went to the shop to straighten the der hanger, and they were mobbing it before I even made it through the door.
