1979 Koga Miyata Gents-Luxe-S
Hello vintage enthusiasts!
Excuse my English, native Dutchman here. I just picked up a 1979 Koga Miyata Gents-Luxe-S. Since it is my second Koga Miyata (i also own a Road Speed), i'm afraid it will grow out to be a hobby, thus i thought of joining a forum with like minded people. The bike looks to be in excellent condition and i suspect that it has not seen many miles. I made some pictures, but i plan on making new ones with my good camera once i have changed the seat to a selle italia turbo (1986, i know, not period correct, but i would hate to see this seat damaged), and it needs some new handlebar tape, since green is not really my thing, im thinking a deep brown will make it look nice and clean. Anyway, here are some pictures of the bike, hope you guys enjoy!
Greetz,
Mo

You have excellent taste. That bike is beautiful (mooie, . I lived in Gelderland once and had a Koga Miyata as well. They are fine bicycles.

That is in fantastic condition! A mounted stem from almost 40 years ago with barely a scratch?!?
The copper brown color is great too.

I counted 5 little spots, the rest is all dirt or muck on the bike, also the headset has a couple of corrosion spots. Other than that, it has no marks at all! The brown looks even better in the sunlight , reminded me of a 'bruin cafe'

Welcome, Mo! Excellent bike. You've even got the original Shimano hoods, by the looks of it. That is exceptional.

For some reason Koga Miyata riders take very good care of their bikes or simply don't ride them that much. Exxcellent find. My Gents-Touring is in much worse shape.

Take good care of them. They are vulnerable and replacing them will be costly, at best.

Thank you! And yes indeed, i have seen some beatiful preserved Koga Miyata´s with very few miles on it. I guess nobody wants to ruin a perfectly fine bike.
