Weigle is well-known for making very fine frames, focusing on racing bikes, randonneur-style bikes, and he also made quite a few mountain bikes in the early days. He got his start at Witcomb USA along with Richard Sachs, Chris Chance, and other luminaries of the 70s US framebuilding scene. Of the American framebuilders still making bikes, he is near the top in terms of desirability.

Centurion Semi Pro alert
Not sure how to link an ad to the forum, but there is a 62cm Centurion Semi-Pro being listed as a Super LeMans on the Sacramento Craigslist. A few component modifications, but looks solid. Halloween orange color to boot!

Looks like a Semi Pro, maybe 1978. Front derailleur and brakes swapped out (at least)

Yes, the frame is where the value is in that JP Weigle and not the components. Although some of the components on that particular bike are nice(Campagnolo Nuovo Record cranks and brakes), the frameset is worth $1,500 alone to the right buyer. I have a friend who has been on the waiting list for a new frame by Peter Weigle for over 3 years and is still waiting. Also the price varies based on desired frame type and tubing/components but can easily run $7-10k.

This 95 Kona Explosif has been sitting for weeks. I asked him if he'd bring to Grand Central but he declined; I'm not going out there since I already have a 95 Hot.
Oddly, the sticker does say Aluminum, but its a not-too-common Columbus MAX frame. Ti bars and Logic brakes make it a great deal at 150

May I ask what about this (very cool) Kona makes you think it has Columbus instead of aluminum tubing?

Well, I know that Explosifs were steel at those years, and that frame does not have the dropout proportions for Al, plus the frame has rust. And then a quick catalog search proved my initial hunch of 853 wrong.

I agree something looks odd, but hard to tell if it just the angle. The TT doesn’t really look parallel to the panels on the door
