And soon mosquito borne encephalitis, dengue, zika. Who knows? Maybe malaria will make a comeback, in a whole new(now warm enough) continent.
Welcome to the third world.
The strongman is already in place

One of the guys in my club has been constantly chirping to let everybody know that he thinks the stay at home order has been farce. The head-scratcher, to me, is using a relatively slow spread to argue that the order wasn't necessary, as opposed to, oh, using that data as support of efficacy of the action. His most recent chirp was that covid has "disappeared."

Well, actions have consequences and just as often inaction will have consequences. In the case of a viral infection the consequences may be death or a life time of illness. That seems clear to me but obviously not clear to many.

Re COVID19 increases, as everyone knows this is no surprise. Totally expected. The real question is, will this just be a minor bump and we can manage it with most people still behaving, wearing masks etc. or is there going to be a HUGE spike in cases which can and will overwhelm the hospitals etc., I hope it's just a small bump but vamos a ver.

Yup. Like how I want to buy a new chef's knife, but the purchase price would go a long way towards a wheelset upgrade, which I also really want to do. Complicating matters is the fact that the knives are available now while the wheelsets will be available in a few months, at which time the knives may not be available. "May you live in interesting times," indeed.

If they think the whole thing is a hoax, they won't be surprised about any news regarding the virus, up OR down. Sad!

I had the kids help me make some Nutella brownies this morning. Just sampled them after cooling - dangerous. I don't think that the (thankfully) small pan of them will be around for long.

I have found that slicing up a cake and other goodies, and installing into separate containers, removes much of the temptation.
