We had a nice ride, just 2 of us. My friend got a new used bike, a Domane, and she's happy with it but had a little trouble on the (many) climbs. She blamed the heat but it didn't seem too bad to me. I did take a nap after the ride.
She also sold 2 of her bikes and her granddaughter's bike for asking price and quickly.

A question for the group. Google let me down. I have a cheapo two burner hotplate. One burner is fine, but the other burns with a yellow flame, and so can't be used. I'm pretty sure I'm using butane. Do I want to let more outside air in, or less?

This reminded me that I wanted to check on my stats from a little hill the other day. With the climbing talk, I decided to just sit and spin as up said hill to see how it would go. Well, the numbers are in...
Climbing blows, man - y'all are cracked.
The hill averaged 8%, fairly steady. I spun at ~90rpm in my lowest ratio (34/25) and ~120% of ftp got me a whopping 9mph, so not too much of a cooling breeze on a hot day. Changing out my gearing could obviously get me under ftp and spare my knees, but then I'd be moving even more slowly, which is the bit that bugs me the most. Yeah, that hill that datlas talked about - 8% for 8 miles - no, I wouldn't have so much fun grinding away at that for an hour. Yeesh.

The worst is a hot climb with a slight tailwind. You just bake.

my mind is baffled by this. Does the tail wind help you up the hill at all?
