The Newest and Most Improved Hot or Not

This, IMHO, is the quintessentially perfect, classic, retro race bike. Spectacularly hot!
1977 Nishiki ONP w/ Suntour Superbe. Bars and stem updated since original post. Frame was originally purchased by my dad, and was his daily commuter for many years, but had just collected dust in my garage since he passed in '94. The recent rebuild was my COVID-lockdown project earlier this year. She rides very sweet - smooth and agile.

But it looks pretty tight for a cross bike. Maybe you could lose a couple of inches off the RD loop.

Salsa Delgado rims were a budget option when I was less cash flush, and looking for a set of dedicated cross wheels when I initially had the Redline frame.
The clunky derailleur was because the original SRAM derailleur (SRAM Apex was design for the cable to come from the bottom, but for some reason, this frame required the cable to come from the top.....so a MicroShift derailleur was used). I am not a huge fan, but in the interest of riding right now, it is what it is.
I kind of thought that the overall bare aluminum stem and seat post worked okay given the rest of the bare alu parts. However - agreed - moving to all black will complete the look.

The Speedvagen has been in this thread a few times already and although vintage don’t generally feel the love when it comes to hot or not I still felt like I should post.
The frame and fork were bought back in ‘92 or so by me and new. Used a mush mash of parts for years then sent to a friend who had it for the last 15 years. I got it back and have built it with a Campy Chorus 8 speed that is in amazing condition. Coupled with my extra set of Industry Nine wheels set tubeless (of course). The bike rides incredibly well albeit must be in the 21lb range, maybe a bit lighter. Will be a fun change every now and again from the SV!

Cool bike though, the old Campy stuff is just so good looking. Even when it has a ton of miles on it, it gets "patina", not "wear".

I bought a saddle like that from a swap meet when I was in college, and got about a weeks worth of riding on it before I realized that the Selle San Marco badges had totally destroyed my only set of team bibs. So watch your butt!

Totally valid point. That’s why I provided a link, rather than just copying pics to this thread. Think of it as a detour to Hotbike World, for those who enjoy the view, or are looking for inspiration. 😉

Wife’s first bike. Plan on switching the white cages for maroon. So far she loves it.

Updates:
- Black bar/stem (Pro Stealth Evo)
- Black cable housing
- Black bottle cages
- Black bar tape
I said before that I dislike black bar tape, but - on the suggestion of multiple BF'ers - I gave it a try. I have changed my mind. On this bike, with this build, it's the right choice.
Final details coming soon:
- Black wheel decals
- Trim steerer tube
- Properly align tire labels with valve stems
- Black bar/stem (Pro Stealth Evo)
- Black cable housing
- Black bottle cages
- Black bar tape

Thanks. I'm falling more in love with her as I get the fit and cosmetics sorted out.
The saddle is a SQlabs 612 (sq-lab.com). It was already on the bike when I bought it. I had never heard of the brand before, but it fits my body really well, so it will stay.

Looks like it's hot, but the bike is underexposed in every shot.

Yeah, it isn't great. But, at least you can see something besides the silhouette of a bike.
