The cabin picture posted by indyfabz makes me think of all those HGTV shows mrs datlas watches where they talk about "open concept." This is REALLY open concept.

Good weekend of riding. Sundays ride out in Northville was a blast. I had enough juice on the first sprint to attack twice, and still finish with the leaders. Figured me legs would be dead from 2 hard days prior but, nein! On the last climb I pulled all the way to the top and ran out of gas with 50' to go when they attacked. Was great fun ( I tell myself it's fun) reeling them back in before the end of the ride.
. Must be the end of the season as I finally feel like I have some legs under me.
5027 miles for the year so far

My memory tells me Royal Castle preceded White Castle. Anybody else share that memory?

Being a new member, I'm in the process of re-learning all the notification settings(how to turn them off). I think I may have been successful, just now, thanks to someone with one blue star.

I used to eat boca burgers all the time. Now that I think of it I am not sure why I stopped.

mrs datlas and I went to BK a couple years ago and we had Impossible whoppers for the novelty. It was fine, but not something I would have on a regular basis. Maybe once/year.

Fun fact White Castle started in Wichita, KS even though there hasn't been a White Castle there for decades now. There's actually a surprising number of nationally-known or at least regionally-known restaurants that started in Wichita, like Pizza Hut, Taco Tico, Freddy's, Spangles... I guess if there's something we're good at in Kansas it's bland unremarkable food that makes you fat.

Not sure if it still holds true, or if it was ever true in the first place, but rumor had it that WC used the highest grade beef of any fast food burger chain. Maybe a place like Culver's is better now, though.
If you really want to partake in "beef" that deserves the quotation marks, Taco Bell is the place to go.

Another well-regarded regional chain with local roots is Braum's Ice Cream which started in Emporia, KS in the 50s under another name. Now it's headquartered in Oklahoma and they refuse to open chains that are more than a one-day drive from their dairy in OK, so basically 300 miles. It's kinda like Culver's but further south.
I also enjoy Culvers but the local franchise stopped giving free ice cream for dogs at the drive through (even though I was ordering regular meals so it wasn't exactly free) so I stopped going because Dairy Queen and Sonic still have ice cream for dogs. It's a fun treat for them.
