The guy may have been a musical genius, but clearly an easily unhinged one.

Possibly P&R content: my organization requires us to do annual training on various topics including HIPAA, blood-borne pathogens, sexual harassment, hazardous materials, fire prevention, etc., which are all reasonable, although somewhat annoying to jump through the hoops on topics that I am familiar with.
They just added a new one: Active Shooter Training.
Sigh.

Since I have a hard limit of 3 complete bikes but I just can’t help but tinker, I’ve been really thinking of building disassembling my current fixed gear bike and use some of its parts to build my track frame in to a fixed gear or single speed road bike.
Biggest thing I’m struggling with is how to gear it - I really want to build it as a fixed gear but if I pick a ratio that will allow me to get up some of these hills without too much pain will be super spinny going downhill.
Since I’ll be running front and rear brakes I’m tempted to just run a single speed freewheel so that I won’t have to worry about my legs keeping up with the bike going downhill. But singlespeeds aren’t as fun to ride as a fixed gear…
I really like how it looks with this cockpit though, and I think I’m going to run my set of Mirage Monoplanar brakes

Darlene Love Remembers Phil Spector: 'He Wanted to Control My Talent' - Variety
If you have never seen "20 Feet From Stardom" you should. Fabulous documentary with great interviews and old footage. Love talks about what Spector did to her. Hopefully it's still available on NertFlix.
I saw Love perform in the East Village in the mid-2010s. Great performance, especially given her age.

Why? OK, put aside what the neighbours think part. Why live in a poohole?
For example, I don't know how long it takes a rowboat to rot, but however long, he's had one lying for that long behind the trailer. Why? He's never going to use it. But there it lies.
We do get paid.
Got some good fire prevention tips? The west coasters could use them.
Kudos. Some here could learn from you.

All that plus anti discrimination, diversity, harassment, reportable relationships, whistleblowers, managing subordinates, hiring veterans, handling government records, data management, data security, international travel with government issue equipment, Good Clinical Practice for research, Good Lab Practice, research ethics, and about five I can’t even remember.

I had a reoccurrance of my intestinal issue this week and since it could be an infection they wouldn't do the disc procedure to avoid spreading infection. So I am getting a CT scan to see what is going on in my insides.

lol I totally spaced on some context there, the bike I’ll be mothballing to make space only has one good use so maybe this build would be a bit more useful. It does bike paths really well but that’s about it.
If I have the room on the track ends I might go with a 46/17 or 48/18 fixed and then a 20t freewheel on the other side. I think that would give me around 70” fixed and 61” free, that might be just low enough to make the bike okay to ride off of the trail.

It's almost time to renew our annual social security medical insurance, and it appears the cost has actually gone down this year. It used to be heavily top loaded, with us oldsters paying exorbitant sums and the younger folk getting off easy. It appears to be distributed much more evenly this year. I'm not seeing those large gaps between age groups. As we enter a new decade, I expected to pay in the neighborhood of US$1200 apiece. Looks like it will be closer to $700. We can surely thank our socialist president for that.

My doctor prescribed bezafibrate, oral, for my 216 triglycerides, for six months.
Si, o no?
Opinions please.
Especially if you have ever played a doctor on tv.

When I bought the Circuit, Mrs. GJ was expecting it to be a whole lot more than it was, like maybe > $1000. So she was pleasantly surprised that it was a lot less than that. And apart from the Litespeed, that was the most expensive C&V bike I've acquired. I think she figures it keeps me happy and out of her hair.
