a budget model with no-brandname Light Cromo tubing (and the unicrown fork plus "split-housing" cable guides)?
But clearly has Basso marked DOs and brake bridge.
Did Basso build housebrand frames for big outfits like Performance BITD?

Good question. And nice catch on the details. Gap had moved down the line as they offered more models above it (Loto, Ascot, Coral, Diamanté...)

Coral is usually multi colored. Had an upgraded component list. Gaps were single colored.

Gap was top of the line and kept getting moved down in the 90s as the Viper, Loto, Coral pushed it down. They also had Monza, Ascot and Astra somewhere in that time frame.

They are tough to distinguish though and I could be off.

And then the aluminum came along.

This coral is very similar to my frame, even the headset is similar. As well as the location and appearance of the decals, especially the seat tube decals. Which "Light CHROMO"

I saw that and a gap with those decals I thought. Could very well be a Coral. I am betting there is not too much difference.

Haha, I meant in ride quality. Coral-Gap, either is likely a great ride!

It rides very well, but I want to bring it to a "reliable" appearance.
