Just a suggestion.
Often a very old thread is bumped and it seems it’s almost always shenanigans.
Any way to set the forum so that a thread over a certain age (1 or 2 years maybe?) cannot be bumped except by the OP and/or a poster who already posted in said thread? Obviously there are times when it’s appropriate to update an old thread so the rule I suggested allows for that.

First thing I do is look at who bumped the thread and see if I think they are a spammer. Granted, a lot of those bumps come from newbies doing a google search.
I have suggested that the background change to an increasingly disgusting shade of green as time goes on.

I just did it this morning, unintentionally.
The BB feeds old threads to the user, eg:
https://www.bikeforums.net/trending.php
All but the first six of these is from 2018. I wasn't paying close attention, and posted an inane reply to an inane thread (idle since 2018).
I also see old threads pop up in the interface in other contexts occasionally. So it isn't just google and spammers.
